Re: Lions Charles Rogers Suspended
Tough early season for those darlings of the media, the Detroit Lions.
Well, they are deep at WR...too bad they're not very good anywhere else. (Though from what I saw, they were completely robbed on Sunday.) |
Re: Lions Charles Rogers Suspended
Whatever, the guys been hurt for the past two seasons. Why not get loaded?

Re: Lions Charles Rogers Suspended
He could very well end up getting dealt this offseason for a mid rounder. He's falling into the three and out mold that some WR have been in lately.
|
Re: Lions Charles Rogers Suspended
his contract is terrible and he's basically missed 2 full seasons and now another 4 games, AND this is his 3rd drug offense. that's not the way to start a career...

Re: Lions Charles Rogers Suspended
man WRs are a crapshoot aren't they?

Re: Lions Charles Rogers Suspended

sorry about that...new it was somewhere cold and did not double check. |
Re: Lions Charles Rogers Suspended
I read one report that said that Rogers failed "more than one" test recently.
What that says to me is that they tested him and he was "positive" and then he figured they wouldn't test him again so soon and he tested "positive again" before the process was finished to hand out the suspension. If that is even close to right, this guy is a world class MEATHEAD !! |
Re: Lions Charles Rogers Suspended
Regardless, I'd give up a 6th round pick for him and a minimum contract. We're thin at WR and if he's half of the player he looked to be in college he could be a starter. While these are bad attributes to have, people can change. Maybe he was trying the Randy Moss method!

I agree that people can change. I also observe that often times they do not. And if you are right - that he was trying the "Randy Moss method" - all the evidence isn't in yet, but it would look as if that means he ain't gonna change much at all. Here's what I worry about in signing this kind of player even to a minimum contract. What's the next substance abuse violation penalty and when is it gonna hit? After a 4 game suspension, what is the next violation gonna cost? A season? If he's a starting WR and he is gone for a year, he won't be making any huge contributions to the team. |
Re: Lions Charles Rogers Suspended
I wouldn't trade for this guy in Madden let alone real life.
Thankfully we're past that era of bringing in everyone else's problems. |
Re: Lions Charles Rogers Suspended
You're right SC, it is risky, but for the right contract I think it's worth it. I'm willing to bet that somewhere around 20% of players in the NFL use illegal drugs. I haven't heard anything bad from him besides this, while one more would royally screw him up, there should be a way to build a contract that protects the skins, if nothing else have a look at him. From a talent standpoint he has more than anyone on our team (at the WR spot).

Re: Lions Charles Rogers Suspended
if we're hearing about a drug charge, that means its the THIRD offense... THREE... as in not the first time, and not the second. Its not a one-off deal, he now has a documented problem.

Re: Lions Charles Rogers Suspended
Does anyone officially know the offense? Weed, steroids, coke, etc? Is everyone speculating? Never really followed Rogers, but whatever I was into I would find a way to quit to possibly become a great NFL WR. He has great talent and potential, but so do many, many players. Question comes down to a Mike Sellers life decision. Wanna do the NFL or not? Easy. Could I quit my vices for a starting NFL job? I would hope so!!! We're not just talking fame, we're talking BIG MONEY!!!
