Barring injury, Skins are a lock for playoffs, chance for bye
Here's why,
8 games left, Nov 20 at home to Oakland. - 1:00 game Raiders playing at 10:00a.m Body time - It won't be California weather - Raiders not so good. Soft team. Skins victory. Mortal Lock. Dec 11th @ Arizona - Arizona. Enough said. Skins victory. Mortal Lock Dec 4th @ St Louis - Rams are not a team that can play slug it out football. Skins can. - Skins Play well on the road and St Louis can't close out well. Skins Victory 75% chance. IMO. Nov 13 @ Tampa. - Chris Simms. _ Still a tough defense. Cadillac seems out of gas. If you cover Galloway what are they going to do? Nov 27 San Diego - Not California weather. 10:00 a.m body time for SD. I think Washington gets one of these two. Hard to see them losing both of these. Playing in this NFC East has benefits in that when you play other divisions and conferences, you can smack them cause you are now battle hardened and they aren't. Final Three games are Divisional rivals. Two of three are at home. If you win one out of three you wind up 10-6. and go 3-3 in Division. You win two out of three you are 11-5. 4-2 in Division. And start to look very good for the bye. If you go Three for three in the last three games then you end up 12-4, and are almost guarenteed a bye. You have a fresh Arrington making plays. A decent back up to Brunell - ask Pittsburgh if they wouldn't like Ramsey right now. Depth at RB. You guys are now officially .......scary. |

I hate when Cowboys fans act all nice. Makes it so much harder to hate them. ;)

No shame in calling something for what it is. |
Re: Barring Injury, Skins a lock for Playoffs, chance for bye.
I know. I'm kidding. I know that Arizona IS Arizona, but I always get worried about those trap games. Oakland is no slouch either.
|
Re: Barring Injury, Skins a lock for Playoffs, chance for bye.
we should beat tampa bay, simms isnt a starting quality QB, we just have to stop the run and somehow break down that defense some
|
Re: Barring Injury, Skins a lock for Playoffs, chance for bye.
I know their defense is #1 yards-wise, but Philly's defense was pretty damn good too.
|
Re: Barring Injury, Skins a lock for Playoffs, chance for bye.
before this past game i divided the season into 3 blocks
1. Eagles tampa 2. Raiders, chargers, rams, cardinals 3. 3 divisional games I thought as long as we only lose one in each group we can end up 10-6 but i did also realize that we could win all of our first and second groups. the next two games would be two divisional games at home, i don't want to say we have a possibility of winning 8 straight because that is just crazy but 6-2 or 7-1 isn't out of the question in those 8 games, we are already 1-0 so i don't think winning 5 of our next 7 is out of the question neither is 6 and if we pull of eagles that is 12-4. Scary isn't it but let us focus on tampa. i think we have a good chance, they have fallen off |
Re: Barring Injury, Skins a lock for Playoffs, chance for bye.
Nothing is a lock, we still have some very tough games to go.
|
Re: Barring Injury, Skins a lock for Playoffs, chance for bye.
TB's O-line is not that great, so we should be able to pressure Simms as much as we did Alex Smith. One of the Bucs linemen (Kenyatta Walker) got called for 3 false starts in 5 snaps in yesterday's game and was benched thereafter.
And, we just stick with our usual offense...li'l dinks and screens to H-backs, pound portis and betts, and take a few shots downfield to Moss and Patten. Just no offensive turnovers, please! |

You have the easiest schedule in the division, on paper anyway. |
Re: Barring Injury, Skins a lock for Playoffs, chance for bye.
One thing that I did notice about our remanning schedule it seems that our toughest opponents (except the Philly game) are home games.
|
Re: Barring Injury, Skins a lock for Playoffs, chance for bye.
i don't think we will get a first week bye and neither will anyone in this division, i think seahawks and someone from the south will get it, but hey who knows
|
Re: Barring Injury, Skins a lock for Playoffs, chance for bye.
That sure is a nice scenario, 5 rings. Are you trying to jinx us?? ;)

That's because our first 8 agmes were the hardets on paper in the NFC. All I know is we need to play one week, one game at a time and see what happens. I agree it is conceivable to win 10 or 11 but it's not like we're beating teams up right now. We may have won some games but only one was a lock from beginning to end. If injuries start to pile up or luck turns a little we're back looking at 9-7/8-8 real quick. One game at a time and let the chips fall baby. |

do we?? i hope you mean games left because we play all the same games with the exeption of two. We play 5-3(one loss given by us so really 5-2) bears and 5-3 Tampa. combined record 10-5 you play detriot 3-5 and carolina 6-2 9-7 combined Eagles play 1-7 greebay and 5-2 falcons(w/o eagle game) combined 6-9 Giants play 3-5 vikings and 2-7 Saints combined 5-12 This shows that we have the hardest schedule in the division, please know what your are saying before you say it. |
Re: Barring Injury, Skins a lock for Playoffs, chance for bye.
we have already got the toughest part of our scheduel behind us...3 division games of course, plus seahawks, broncos, and chiefs. in those games, we were 3-3, not bad.
i can see us going 10-6 or 11-5 now :) but lets see |

To clarify - the skins have the easiest schedule in their REMAINING GAMES. Skins remaining opponents record: 34-31 Cowboys remaining opponents record: 39-25 Eagles remaining opponents record: 40-29 Giants remaining opponents record: 35-29 I'll try and keep it simple for you next time. |

Re: Barring Injury, Skins a lock for Playoffs, chance for bye.
This all sounds great on papper ( ha ha ha  ), but we will take it one game at a time. i'll leave the prognostication to you. we will play the game. the 49ers beat this team but gruden is a good coach.after the giant's game, i just focus on the game at hand.thank you for acknowledgement of the teams hard work but for me i realize we can beat anyone and be beatin by anyone.zeroiing in on the buc's.

I like football. You folks are good and knowledgeable about the game. I go to a lot of other fan sites, but I submit to few of them. What's wrong with having a fave team but loving the game? Jerry doesn't send me any cheques, and i have as much to do with the 5 rings that the cowboys franchise earned as the Cowboys have to do with my recent two goal performance in Mens League Hockey. I think the Skins are the most Dangerous team in the East right now. Especially for the Cowboys. We have a win over the other two. I just don't see The giants keeping this roll going. BSB, I was being a bit of an a$$. My Bad. |
Re: Barring Injury, Skins a lock for Playoffs, chance for bye.
I agree about the Giants. Plaxico isn't anywhere near the threat everyone talks about him being. He's for jump balls ONLY.

Nobody on that Defense except Strahan scares me at the least. |
Re: Barring Injury, Skins a lock for Playoffs, chance for bye.
I appreciate that the numbers have it looking a bit easier, and we do have 2 of the division games at home. BUT--I believe that any week, we can come out flat and lose; any week, we can look great. So much is momentum, confidence, and the breaks in a particular game. Seems to me that really what you have is parity, which is as it should be. The division is wide open, and it's anyones to win. And I sure wouldn't count out the iggles.
Every game is going to be a dogfight, most likely. |

BSB, I was being a bit of an a$$. My Bad.[/QUOTE] we're OK. The giants do however scare me, they do have playmakers, Plexico has been great this year and is a big tall target, Shockey as much as i do hate him can be amazing at times, eli is doing very well this year and is seriously a top QB in this conferense, Tiki has learned how to hold on to the ball and is having a great year, but defensively there is only strahan. I hate taking a team out but really 4 losses is huge for the eagles. 10-6 is just breaking the playoffs this year as a wildcard, if they lose once to the giants and once to the redskins or cowboys they are in serious trouble. Not that this is a three way race but i just think it will be tough for the eagles because the teams in this division have the power to shut them out of the playoffs |

Re: Barring Injury, Skins a lock for Playoffs, chance for bye.
The only thing I know about the Skins remaining schedule, is that they are good enough to play with any one. How many will they win? That is what we will all watch and find out together. I don't see another Giant-type "let down" the rest of the year happening. Fumbles and turnover, yes. We seem to be bitten by that too much this year, but major "let down".... no way.
|
Re: Barring Injury, Skins a lock for Playoffs, chance for bye.
we've only played one bad team in these first 8 games and we destroyed them. Our second half schedule is easier, so we should be able to go 5-3 or 6-2 in this half. That would make us 10-6 or 11-5, but we could also still blow it because we're the redskins. We've gone 7-1 and missed the playoffs
|
Re: Barring injury, Skins are a lock for playoffs, chance for bye
The first half. Win the home games (4-0), lose to two Good AFC's, lose in a rout (it happens to just about everyone) but keep winning the NFC games. ALready own a tiebreaker against the Bears and Seahawks, look at their records right now. We're sitting OK. Split against the remainng two AFC's, take two or three in the division, and win the other three outright. It could happen. 11-5.
|
Re: Barring injury, Skins are a lock for playoffs, chance for bye
I like to think in terms of what's happening presently, just for the simple fact that when we start thinking too far ahead, we get bitterly disappointed when the Skins lose a game we feel they are capable of winning. With that said, I would love for Washington to pick up the win against Tampa Bay next week. Having a 6-3 record gives us that room of error, not to mention another NFC team that is a threat for post season play.

tiebreakers wont matter when it comes to the wildcard, both are in very good position to win their divisions right now. seahawks are almost a lock, and 2nd in the nfc north is 3-5... |
Re: Barring injury, Skins are a lock for playoffs, chance for bye
Home field in the NFC will probably come down to the Hawks and Giants. We're fighting for what's left. The Seahwaks have an easy division. They still have to play the Niners twice and their tough games are at home. The Seahawks/Giants game Nov 27 may determine home field.
Long ways to go though. |
Re: Barring injury, Skins are a lock for playoffs, chance for bye
Every game from here on out is important and HUGE!
Let's focus on winning Tampa game instead of thinking playoffs. We should finish atleast 10-6, but anything could happen. 1 game at a time. |

Re: Barring injury, Skins are a lock for playoffs, chance for bye
we need to hurdle those winnable and home games
winnable games (either at home or road games) will be against tampa bay, giants, cowboys, arizona, oakland and steal 2 more games for the impossible teams sd, rams, eagles at their home, |
Re: Barring injury, Skins are a lock for playoffs, chance for bye
I truly believe you can take it to the Rams. Our defense is improving every week and they basically just want a shoot-out. I think we can take the games you mentioned, but maybe lose to San Diego and the Eagles. I still feel that the way our home field advantage has been going, we could even take San Diego.
|
Re: Barring injury, Skins are a lock for playoffs, chance for bye
The skins are nota lock for anything. Anyone on the schedule can beat them...Arizona is the only bad team that they play but it is on the road.

The NFC East is about the only division right now where the standings are changing every week. Most websites and newspapers have us listed 3rd for alphabetic reasons or whatever, but actually if the season ended today, the Skins are 2nd, with a win over the Boys. There is a lot of football to play before this is all done. The Skins need to hang in there, because their last 3 games are all divisional. Wow, how tough is that! |
