On the bright side good ole Norv is coming to town

Just about all the Skins games this year have come down to the last seconds. This week Mr. Choke himself Norv Turner will be bringing his Oakland Raiders to a nice COLD day a Fedex. Worst case scenario I see for this game is another shoot out. If that happens expect Norv to blow the game in the clutch like he did for us some many times.

"We're a good football team, we just gotta find a way to win..."

Norval Turner, 1994-2000, at every single losing post game conference.

Uh, Norv, good football teams do find a way to win. You don't.

Yea he is coming with possibly the best WR's in the league. Then we get the Chargers with L.T. and Gates, Rams with Holt and Bruce, and Cards with Fitz and Bolden and more conference games........this season could turn into a disaster.

Let them play the games before you give up.. We've had a top Def for sense Williams took over. There no defending how they looked yesterday but let him right the wrong. The D looked good against Philly the week before.

Re: On the bright side good ole Norv is coming to town

Again, please let me remind you of key factors Taylor and Griffin being out ALONG with the 3 turnovers that gave the Bucs a short field. The defense will be fine this coming week provided we can get Taylor AT THE VERY LEAST back.

It could be a disaster.............and I could win the lottery this week. However, odds are I'll stil be working next week
Norv will provide a good oppurtunity to rebound or the team. If you saw any of the locker room interviews on Redskins.com, they take this loss very seriously. that is a good thing!

The sky is not falling!! The Def is not gonna let up 36 every week just like the Off isn't gonna put up 35 every week....

yes, i can name good players on every team too! doesnt make them good teams. ill give u the chargers as a tough game, the others we should win, excluding division games which are toss ups.

man we had julian peterson on the 49ers! :duel:

poinaming players on other teams that are good, especially on the fricken cardinals, doesnt mean the season could turn into a disaster...

we have the easiest scheduel left in the division

dallas has denver, kansas city, and carolina
giants have seattle and kansas city
eagles have seattle

our hardest team outside division is chargers at home...dont give up on the season just yet

Thanks for the vote of confidence! :smashfrea

Didn't we play Minnesota last year when they had Randy Moss? As meager as our offense was last year, we won that game. I don't have that much fear in Randy Moss. I actually believe we have the better of the two Moss's. I know that sounds like a homer comment, but I believe Randy Moss will be no factor.

Re: On the bright side good ole Norv is coming to town

Anyone else want to hate???
I don't want to fall apart this season I am jus stating the facts, these teams have good pass attacks and now that this weak spot is exposed you know they are going to attack it. I agree Taylor coming back will help over top and Griffin should help the pass rush. The D did look good against the Eagles but look at McNabb's stats without T.O.and no running game he still had 300 yards.

Big C i was naming the players on upcoming teams that could be a problem with our current pass defense issues. Ike Hillard had his first TD of the season last game and Edell Sheperd had the first TD of his career last game, I am willing to bet you never heard of him but you think pro bowl caliber WR's that I named aren't going to cause problems? Reggie Brown had 94 yards and his first career TD against us two weeks ago and we all know he is a stud. The only reason I threw out names is because I am stating the obvious of what we face in the upcoming weeks through the air.

Re: On the bright side good ole Norv is coming to town

mcnabb has been putting up 300 yards games all year long, very similarly to marc bulger, because they throw the ball 50 times a game

SmootSmack 11-14-2005 08:10 PM

Re: On the bright side good ole Norv is coming to town

The Raiders, Chargers, Rams and Cardinals are also in the bottom third in the league on defense. If we can get 35 on Tampa, just think what we could do on these other teams.

skinsguy 11-14-2005 08:14 PM

Re: On the bright side good ole Norv is coming to town

It's not a problem with our offense putting up the points (wow, I can't believe i just said that...LOL,) the thing is, will those teams put up 35 or more against our defense? I think the Raiders, Rams, and Chargers all have the potiential of putting up big numbers against us. I think the Cardinals game will be a breeze.

I believe two of those four games mentioned will be decided late in the fourth quarter, or will go to overtime.

You are contradicting yourself. Either you think we are going to win all of the games or you think we aren't. Does the Cowboys and Eagles, two teams we have beaten have you so shook up that you can't see any possibility of a win? Wow, I don't know how you can watch a game seriously and have a positive outlook.

the raiders look horrible so far... they are always down big, having to toss the ball late to catch up.

the D can't play prevent if we're up big.

Re: On the bright side good ole Norv is coming to town

As part of the 12th man I promise we'll all do our best to make sure Norv has a really shitty day.

I do fear Moss and the other Raiders WR behind a cannon like Collins. Hopefully Taylor will play as well as Griffin and reguardless hopefully we'll be able to keep the WR's in front of us. If Simms can light it up with Galloway consistantly don't think Collins won't got deep to Moss. Over and over again. I'm sorry but Harris, Prioleau, Bowen or Rogers can't defend Moss. If Taylor plays we won't have a problem with Springs and Taylor supporting. Can we call up Garnell Wilds for this one? LOL. All of our remaining games are 'must wins' and all of them will be tough games. At this point I don't underestimate any team in the NFL. Niners beat Bucs we blow out Niners, lose to Bucs, etc etc.

Let's make it 5-0 at home and the LOUDEST Fed Ex has EVER been!!! Make some noise SUNDAY!!!

Re: On the bright side good ole Norv is coming to town

Some random thoughts about Norvell Turner...

Some good points
Norv is really a class act. After what he went through here w/ Mr. Snyder he really shouldn't have any good things to say about the owner or organization, but he did.
Norv, I thought did a great job w/ the offense during the time he was here (w/ moderate talent).
Had he gotten a couple breaks here and there things could have been much different.

Some bad points...
I'm not sure that players respected him after getting tongue lashed by MR. Snyder after every loss
His teams were always so undisciplined, making stupid mistakes to cost us games.

It seemed like during the Norvell years we lost a ton of games by a touchdown or less, b/c of mental breakdowns and a lack of discipline, and in the end thats what did him in.

I really wish him luck, just not this week.

You're right, any season COULD turn into a disaster. The great thing is that we know Norv Turner IS a disaster. He'll do whatever it takes to blow this game for his team if it's close. I feel very good about our chances this week for a number of reasons, I honestly can't believe someone else hired this guy.

These next FOUR games are all WINS. If we lose anyone of them, we suck.

Luxorreb 11-16-2005 05:27 AM

Re: On the bright side good ole Norv is coming to town

Come on Bozzy...
We've lost 3 of our 4 games by a score.
We don't suck. We can play with any team in the league.
We just have to come out on top from now on.
I think this will hopefully teach Gibbs to run up the score when possible.
I bet Andy Reid is thinking the same thing.
Go for the throat til the game is over.

WOW, Raider Nation in town! I guess it has to be hell for the Darth Vader look alikes. It must have been hard deciding weather to come to a football game or marching dressed up in a parade that is held weekly in San Fransico.

Norv Turner sounds like Elmer Fudd.

That's all I have to contribute.

Re: On the bright side good ole Norv is coming to town

Dont count out the Raiders and Norv. He is a hell of a play caller against aggressive defenses. Especially the first two drives that he usually scripts, with audibles already in the game plan. Plus Moss is healthy, Porter and Jordan give them a couple more options. With the way our D has played, the Raiders have the kind of attack that could put up alot of points. That said, there D is kinda week, but have been playing well against the run lately. We should be able to put some points up, I just hope we score about 45 this week. That should atleast give us enough points to hold up if the D goes in toilet agian this week.

Yeah, I'm with #56fanatic and PSUskinsfan11 on this one. Norv's overall history will generally be regarded as a failure, but really, he lost only 10 more games than he won in Washington, and he NEVER had a good defense to help him out.

In today's NFL, you cannot discount any team nor their coach.

So much worry, just because the redskins had that letdown game all teams have - except the '72 fins.

If Oakland can come up to DC and beat Washington with Kerry 'Scattergun" Collins then I would be amazed, astounded, apoplectic, and beside myself. Collins is well on that road to #2/#3 QB in the NFL. He has thrown, what, like a million INT's in the past four games? This is his last ride as 'The Man' on an NFL team. Go out and eat him up for like four picks.

And to worry about Arizona.....They just aren't a good football team, and their best pass rusher is out, and Boldin may or may not play, cmon!

Bottom line, when we don't self-destruct, we can play with any team in the NFL, Indy, Cincy, Pittsburgh included.

I suspect that our defense will use this as a game to set the tone for the remainder of the year. If we can shut these guys down Sunday, I would expect pretty much the same for the rest of the year. If we don't I would expect more of the same....
