Playoff Hopes Dead?
 

We've now lost five of the last seven games. I don't care if LaMont Jordan fumbled, we deserved to lose that game. We were up by ten points in our stadium against a team that has an awful road record.

Moreover, we're facing the Chargers next week. As I see it, our playoff hopes are toast. Anyone disagree?

Call me a blind optimist but I'm one of those who refuses to say our playoff hopes are toast until they're actually, mathematically toast.

However, this was a HUGE and EMBARASSING loss. And with Dallas and the Giants winning, we're in a big hole. But it ain't over till Aretha sings

playoffs are not over, they weren't over last year when we were 3- 8 and no f'n way they are over at 5-5, we got to work through this. this thread needs a poll

Redskins played a very bad game. Mark sucked ass today. As I see it, the playoffs are unreachable this year hands down. I would be very surprised if they finished 8-8. Team seems to be getting worse not better.

Everyone should have known the start was a fluke. Gibbs sucks. Portis had 2 TO's. Brunell averaged 4.8 yds per pass attempt. Most likely the Cowboys will win the division with he Giants getting the wild card or vice versa. Our organization is a freaking joke. Are we built for the future? No. Snyder is freaking clueless. Until he dies, it will be the same thing over and over.........

The difference between this year and last year (besides our record), is that there are a bunch of other good teams to grab a wildcard. Tampa (7-3), Atlanta (6-4), Carolina (7-3), Dallas (7-3), and New York (7-3) are in the hunt for four playoff spots. Can anyone honestly see us having a better record than any of those teams? I can't. Plus, we'd have to have a better record than TWO of those teams to get in.

Being realistic, especially with Chicago, Tampa Bay, Carolina, Seattle, NY Giants, Dallas, and Atlanta all having better records - most two games ahead of us - we will have to win out and hope some of these teams drop off.

Yeah, there still is a chance, but it's very doubtful.

we need to come in second in our division and i trust all will be fine
Giants and Cowboys play each other, one will obviously lose, we need to beat both of them and that garantees 2 loses to atleast one of those teams and we are tied up. Atlanta plays carolina twice this year, they may lose both and only two come out of the south AT MOST because tampa also plays carolina and falcons again

JUST remember that we might be tied with the fucking vikings tommorrow
so we have to worry about them too.

i think we are out of the race. i just can't believe we started out 3-0, and then went on to lose 5 of the next 7. absolute bullshit. this was a game we were easily supposed to win. if we can't beat the teams we are expected to beat, we will not be good. we have a tough schedule left, and our defense has given up way too many big plays.

until mathematically eliminated I still hold out hope, but today's loss hurt a hell of a lot and the Skins will now host an explosive offense in San Diego coming off 2 extremely tough losses. My main question about today's game is why the heck is it so hard for the Skins to keep defenders atleast somewhat to opposing recievers? today's coverage was absolutely pathetic.

Exclude the saints and easy games

BUcs play Atlanta again,panthers new england, and chicago

falcons play carolina twice, @chicago, @tampa, 3 division games cause some kind of losing within the division

panthers got an easier schedule with 2 atlanta, Tampa, Dallas, @buffalo.

Seriosly do only 2/11 people here think that we have a chance. This is it, our backs against the wall, time to fuck people up, no need to give up, as long as we win our last 5 we are money, people c'mon NEXT FUCKING WEEK who ever goes yell we need to win don't give up.

let's just remember that in some lean years, 9-7 gets you in. And it's not like the NFC is the AFC this season... if we can go 4-2 with some outside help, it's a chance. but then again, our team has to show up.

But, I think at 9-7 we're out, simply because the other NFC teams in the hunt are going to have to have a complete collapse in the next 6 weeks. I believe if those 7-3 teams keep winning for the next three weeks, we're probably in big danger.

We still are in it. 2-1 in the division and still have 3 out of 6 at home. It certainly will take a win from this part out. Sometimes I think the Redskins subconsciously thrive off of their backs being against the wall. It's time to buckle up and win.

Every year there is that one team that gets on a roll in the last 5-6 games and rolls into the playoffs. Maybe we can be that team this year.

Maybe that could have of , well maybe gave up 2 critical possessions. Give it up. Brunell is the reason we even have 5 wins. Because Ramsey nor Campbell wouldn't have 12 TDs and 5 INTs.

Brunell is a BIG reason why we have won 5 games this year. However, when do we go with youth? If we are out of the playoffs this year, should we try to develop one of our younger QBs? Mark is 35. He's only got 1 or 2 years left. When do we play for the future?

I don't think that is going to happen unless we are completely eliminated from the playoffs. As long as there is at least a mathematical chance, you won't see Campbell.

Mathmatically, we're in it. Realistically, the only chance we have is if we beat the Giants and Cowboys at home (which I believe we will do), and start playing better on the road. You can't go 1-7 on the road and make the playoffs.

My opinion though: after today's game, the season's over.
