Re: Skins final record will be...
9-7!
|
Re: Skins final record will be...
As almost ALL posts since the cataclism with Norv have reflected, we have a few problems. The question for me is do we need to tweak some things here and there (with a few player changes) or is it re-build time?

Re: Skins final record will be...
They will get 2 more wins, Arizona & St. Louis.
|
Re: Skins final record will be...
8-8 is pretty realistic, of course 10 or 11 would be nice but again I'm trying to be realistic. No sense in keeping the hopes up too high anymore.

Re: Skins final record will be...
I voted 9-7, just because you would expect us to win some of the upcoming games, but the play has been so inconsistent. I think we are capable of winning the rest of the games, but we should have won three or four of the games we lost. I have never seen a team play itself or coach itself out of games you should win. It has been almost scary predictable. I was at the game yesterday and I swear I looked at my buddy as much as I hate bashing the skins when we were backed up and began losing the field position battle this is where we have been all year, get up on a team and let them back in the game. three plays later Portis laid the ball on the ground. It is like a well written book that things are going to turn at pivitol points in a game for us. Though I believe we only gave up three points these things have haunted us all year in nearly every game. I would have to say if it was not for our turnovers and failure to put teams away we could finish out 11-5 or 10-6, but 9-7 the way we are playing is optimistic. The mindset needs to change for the players and coaches to get away from continually saying we are going to be in battles week after week and it is going to come down to the last plays to decide. Though it may be a reality, you have to talk it up and have the mindset you are going to go in and blow this team up go for the kill. If you continually live up to that expectation of you can hang with a team to the last few minutes and hope the ball falls the right way you will play to that standard and coach to that standard. This is not a bash at any coaches or players, just seems like a team that is settled for mediocrity, maybe not the right words. Every player and coach in interview utter those words that we will be in hard fought battles all year and just don't get it done when were supposed to. Supposed to should be the whole game, not the last three minutes, the last defensive drive, the last offensive drive.

Re: Skins final record will be...
The Skins are 5-5 at this point. Brunell has fumbled the ball 7 times this year, including 4 in the last 3 games (he's lost 6 of 7...David Carr leads the league in fumbles with 14, and has only lost 5). Moss is only receiver threat left, as Patten is injured and Jacobs and Thrash aren't very good replacements. The Skins have had too many injuries to the D Line and Secondary.
With 6 games left, 3 against division rivals, it's tough to say exactly what will happen. Vinny Cerrato on Elliot in the Morning said they will probably look at some receivers this week, and could possibly sign 1 or 2. Rich Parson is an option at the #4 receiver slot if need be. Cooley has stepped up big time, but will be blanketed like Moss from here on out. I'm saying the Skins go 3-3 the rest of the way. They beat Arizona, lose to the Chargers and split with the Rams, Eagles, Giants, and Cowboys. 8-8 is definitely better than the last few years, but from the last few weeks, this team still has to make strides to compete with the big boys. |
Re: Skins final record will be...
I would look at 7-9 or 6-10 again. We will not win on the road again. So we will have to scratch and claw to win a few of our remaining home games, which are tough games......San Diego, Dallas, New York. I see us finishing the season winning 2 of our final 6 games because we turn the ball over entirely too much. We are -13 in takeaways and for those of you that think its going to go away....think again.
|
Re: Skins final record will be...
Call me crazy, but I still think we can make it to 10-6, but will be a tie breaker out of the playoffs.
|
Re: Skins final record will be...
I voted 9-7. That will be tough, but it's realistic. Really I think are only hope is to sweep Philly, Dallas, and NY. Luckily two of those games are at home, and Philly looks like they are packing it in for the season.

Re: Skins final record will be...
I think we have a better chance than I'd have thought Saturday against San Diego if Gates is still hurt going into our game. St. Louis looks very weak right now but then again so did Oakland. Arizona's Wrs kind of worry me against our cbs. And I think we can beat all of our divisional opponents. The main games that worry me r Arizona (who'da thunk it), San Diego cuz they still have LT, and Dallas cuz it's Dallas. But if the team was able to play complete games for the rest of the year the record has a chance to wind up @11-5.

Okay.......you're crazy. |
Okay.......you're crazy.
Fair enough, but I also don't see us going 6-10 again. |
Re: Skins final record will be...
Blind fandom is screaming 11-5 at me so what the hay, SKINS RULE! isn't being a fan about believing we can always win all of the games...I STILL BELIEVE!

Re: Skins final record will be...
I voted for 8-8. The coaches suck. The front office sucks. And most of the players suck.
|
Re: Skins final record will be...
16-0....I'm working on a time machine to take us back in time and correct our wrongs
And if that fails, 10-6. |
Re: Skins final record will be...
I voted for 8-8. The coaches suck. The front office sucks. And most of the players suck.
Then why would we win 3 more games? |

Wow.....I feel the same way......except for the 8-8 part. 7-9 at best! I do like, however the accountability/discipline Gibbs has brought but we lack some serious emotion and dynamics on offense at times. |
Re: Skins final record will be...
Although I voted 9-7, what games are there that we really thing we are going to win? We are 5-5 with games against San Diego, Dallas, Giants at home. Road games against St. Louis, Eagles, Arizona. We may win one of these games. With the way we are playing no way do we win any of the home games, and St Louis throws the ball all over the place which we can not stop. Arizona has put some numbers up lately and Eagles looked pretty decent yesterday against the G-Men. We are in some serious trouble!!!

I agree except we win the division in a tie breaker with Dallas and meet them again in the playoffs. |
Re: Skins final record will be...
Fair enough, but I also don't see us going 6-10 again.
That is why I also said 7-9........although down deep I hope we win all 6! But I am a realist. |
Re: Skins final record will be...
I said 8-8 before pre-season and I'm sticking with that.
|
Re: Skins final record will be...
Being realistic I could see 9-7. I'd take that in a heartbeat too. I dont know, it just depends which team shows up to play, thats why this team pisses me off. If the team that showed up at every game but the Giants/Raiders, then I Think 9-7 is realistic. If that team shows up to anymore games, you can count that right in the L column. We have a tough schedule, so it will be interesting.

Re: Skins final record will be...
We'll finish 8-8, and while it sounds disappointing, it will be a two-game inprovement over 2004. Next year will be Gibbs' last chance to return the Skins to glory.
|
Re: Skins final record will be...
This season is not over. Lot's of wacky things can happen. I'm saying 10-6. Just when this team looks awful, they usually step it up with a good game. I think the Chargers will be tough, but beatable. Giants are WAY overrated. Toughest games will be against Dallas and Philly (believe it or not, but the game is in Philly) and I don't think Philly is packing it in. They played well yesterday with a new QB plus they have a good D.

I highly doubt Synder would fire Joe Gibbs. Dan " the fan" probably shakes in his boots when he's in the same room with the coach. Joe will be here for his contract. |

I don't think Danny Boy will fire Gibbs at all. I just think Gibbs probably went in thinking it would take three years to accomplish what he wanted to accomplish (ring No. 4). |
Re: Skins final record will be...
I said 8-8 but I could see it being even worse. I am very dejected after that one. When you lose games to Norv's Raiders at home it's about time to cash in your chips. Seasons cooked...I am still going on Sunday and will scream my head off, but my expectations could not be lower after yesterday. Hopefully, they surprise me and get back on track but I am not holding my breath.

Re: Skins final record will be...
11-5
|
Re: Skins final record will be...
7-9
We're gonna lose to San Diego, St. Louis, Dallas and New York. We're gonna HOPEFULLY beat Arizonia and Philly. Course Arizonia is an away game.... |
Re: Skins final record will be...
I'm playing the numbers. We've played 10 games......we're 5-5........simple math says 8-8 is in the future.
I just don't see any reason to be optomistic anymore. This team hasn't shown me any reason to believe we can win over half our games or to think that we are a playoff team. We're inconsistent, we're the worst team in the NFL in turnover margin at -13 (tied with the Saints actually), the defense isn't nearly as good as it was last year, we can't get pressure on the QB for anything, the offense is moderately better overall but so inconsistent that you just can't count on it, ........ I could go on but why bother. I'm pessimistic but there's no reason to bring anyone else down with me. |

Well at least your criticism was constructive. :yeahright |
Re: Skins final record will be...
I'm betting on 9-7. I think this team realizes that it's real near do or die at this point. We're 1 game in front of the TOless, McNabbless Eagles and 2 games behind both Dallas and NYG. Even though 8 of our 10 games were close and could have gone either way. We're 5-5, so unfortunate. Don't know if we can lose more than 1 more game and make playoffs and at 9-7, atleast at this point it appears a longshot. Perhaps we can get a wildcard at 9-7 but that'll almost certainly come down to tiebreakers. We go 10-6 we are in we go 9-7 I think there's a 50/50 chance we get in. I'm betting 9-7 and hoping and praying we get in by the skin of our teeth.

Re: Skins final record will be...
I'm saying 8-8. We have no receiving threat on the outside, other than Santana Moss. When there is only one threat it becomes very easy to take Moss away. Which will take away our big plays.
The only good side of that is at least there is ONE wideout defenses have to worry about. Which hopefully means Portis can still find enough room for 4.5 yards per carry. So he can keep the offense going a little, and Cooley can still move some chains. But I think we're going to be missing big plays from now on, which means we'll have to mount more long sustained drives to win games. And you know what that means... there's even less margin for error when it comes to turnovers. If we finish 8-8, in my book that means we went 10-6. The Denver game and the Tampa game were both wins. The refs just didn't see it that way. |

Cooley has been such a clutch player though. He deserves to be in the Pro-Bowl. |
Re: Skins final record will be...
really we are not losing any division games, why you may ask, because they are division games and i know we can beat both the gints and cowgirls at home and eagles will be fine at eagles. IF we win our next three it gives us a cusion but if we lose one i still say we are not eliminated. EVEN IF WE LOSE SUNDAY!!!?!?!?!!!
10-6, i haven't deviated from that from the beginning of the year |

How are we going to win these games? Right now our offense is strategically limited by the fact that no WR opposite Moss can step up and become a threat. |
Re: Skins final record will be...
I think we'll beat dallas, philly and NY. We can beat an injury riddin STL and Young Arizona. We must San Diego. 11-5 is my vote
