Denver v. Dallas & NY (Giants) v. Seattle: Don't be scared of optimism!
Hear me out... I have been reading all the "sky is falling" threads. Let's look at the facts for a quick second. Dallas is playing Denver; arguably one of the top two teams in football. The Giants are playing at Seattle against a team that has the best record in the NFC.
Let's say they loose and we WIN (HOLY SHIT after reading these some of these posts). That means we would be only one game back with two shit teams up next. PLUS, our division games are at HOME vs both Dallas and the New York Giants. I'm not saying were gonna win all those games but as fans let's at least have a little optimism. |
Re: Den VS Dal.... NYG vs SEA...Don't be scared of Optimism!
And we beat Seattle!!!! Making us the best team in the NFC! WOOO!!! The Beast of the East (that's for BigSkinBauer)
I think this season is going to come down to the wire, but the Redskins have to take care of their games. If they can't win their own games, it won't matter who else loses to who (or is it whom?). I think the Chargers game goes to overtime and I hope we win |
Re: Den VS Dal.... NYG vs SEA...Don't be scared of Optimism!
If we beat the Chargers, I will start to contemplate scenerios again.
|
Re: Den VS Dal.... NYG vs SEA...Don't be scared of Optimism!
yess take it one game at a time, and forget first the games of the two division rivals and concentrate of beating SD first
|
Re: Den VS Dal.... NYG vs SEA...Don't be scared of Optimism!
NOW , having recovered sufficiently from alcohol induced coma (strickly for medical reasons). Take a look at it realistically. Come on, you are Redskins fans-you have had to live on what "could have been" for YEARS.
The facts are, we should have no problem winning 4 of the remaining games without incident. That leaves Dallas, and NY. if we split, what the hell! Win out? It happens. this years Cinderella story. Sometimes, you just have to believe. For the last 10+ years, as Skins fans, you have to believe alot!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Re: Den VS Dal.... NYG vs SEA...Don't be scared of Optimism!
I mean come on, we have a hall of fame coach running the show, a former pro bowl quarterback running the offense, a pro bowl running(? I think), and a receiver and H-Back who should be in the pro bowl this year. The last two weeks have been heartbreakers for us, but I do think we can turn it around. We MUST beat the Chargers though. I believe if we are going to get things moving in the right direction again, it MUST start this week.

Re: Den VS Dal.... NYG vs SEA...Don't be scared of Optimism!
all this woulda , shoulda , coulda crap has got to stop. We have to face it, until we get the D straightened out and play consistent football we are an 8-8 team at best. I am not saying we cant win 5 or last six, or go 9-7 but all likely hood that seems a little far fetched. Dallas and NY are playing really good ball right now. and the Giants D is playing as good as anyone in the league right now. Dallas has one of the best D's in the league. The way we are playing right now we wouldn't beat either one of those teams, not to mention San Diego this week. Their Offense is one of the best. Lets put it this way : San Diego, NY, Dallas at home. Detroit , Arizona , St Louis on the road. All of these teams can put points on the board with the best. If our Defense was playing half way decent I would say, Yeah we can win 5 games. But I am not so sure right now. I hate to be the voice of reason, but if we dont win this week, we are all but mathmatically eliminated.
Please stop short of questioning my loyalty to the Redskins, I have heard all this crap too much this year. I love em, always have , always will. I just have been a skins fan too long to start looking for a silver lining. And by the way, the Raiders were suppose to be one of the easy wins that was going to help our record, boy that worked out didn't it. I hope we go on a serious win streak starting with San Diego, but you know Marty is going to have the Chargers ready and willing to run through a wall for him come this sunday. |
Re: Den VS Dal.... NYG vs SEA...Don't be scared of Optimism!
I think it's time the playbook is opened with some halfback passes, end arounds, things like that. It's one of those times we can't afford to keep it tucked away.
|
Re: Den VS Dal.... NYG vs SEA...Don't be scared of Optimism!
At this point the Skins need to be only concerned about one thing, and that's winning the next game on the schedule. NY and Dallas very well could both lose this week, but what good is it gonna do if the Skins can't beat the Bolts? They need to start winning and everything else will take care of itself.
|
Re: Den VS Dal.... NYG vs SEA...Don't be scared of Optimism!
I concur, because the Skins STILL have both the Giants and Cowboys left on the schedule. They had a miracle beginning, why not have a miracle end?
|
Re: Den VS Dal.... NYG vs SEA...Don't be scared of Optimism!
yeah we certainly have to take down SD. but this panic that has spread throughout the board is at least slightly unfounded. when youre 2 games back and play both teams youve fallen behind at home i think theres a big chance. its not like last year when PHI just ran away with the division and a wildcard was our only shot.
squeak out a win over SD and we'll be in at least decent shape. |
Re: Den VS Dal.... NYG vs SEA...Don't be scared of Optimism!
Before the Raiders game, my thought was we would need to win 3 of the next 4 in order to be in good shape for the final 3 division games. That still holds true, except now we need to rip off 3 in a row. The time to get hot is now.

EXACTLY! I would agree that concentration on the next game is critical! The odds are NOT in our favor. But, miracles do happen. For the Skins, if you do not believe you have a chance to get to the playoffs, you lose much of your desire to win and it takes the team like a cancer. If the team does not believe, there done. If you look back in Redskin lore, we have had several Cinderella type stories. Who thought our back up QB Doug was going to do anything? There are numerous others as well. Perhaps this is the next chapter. You can choose to believe they can't, or you can choose to believe they can. I choose to believe! |
Re: Den VS Dal.... NYG vs SEA...Don't be scared of Optimism!
They had a miracle beginning, why not have a miracle end?
The fan side of me will be sitting in front of the TV on week 17, saying "ok, we can win this one", even if we lose every game for the rest of the season. The logical side of me says all of the miracles for this season have been used up already. If they end up beating the Chargers, that'll probably change my thinking.... again.:frusty: |

(HOME TEAM ON CAPS) this week ny vs SEATTLE , DAL vs Den and WAS vs SD my mone would be oN the 3 teams losing but I give more chances to NY and dallas to take it than was the reason on this is that NY has been playing great the only bad game they have had is the 1 vs minesota and the y almost won it, Dallas has my advantage becasue den plays away and the 2 loses have come away and because is a short week and denver isn't used to play short weeks; in the cas of you vs SD I jsut don't see it they have a better team and they need the W as bad as you do (maybe more) if they want to reach the playoffs. The oakland game was a must win we all new that right now you have 6 games left an easy schedulle for that matter you face; sd, STL,ARI,dal,NY and PHI your only chance to make the playoffs relies on taking the division or tie for the lead that means that division games right now are the msot important thing. Dal and ny has to face each other next week that will put 1 of them closer to you if you don't lose the STL game wich you shouldn't you should win the Ari, stl and phi games thats 3 lose vs SD thats a 8-6 record it all depends how you plat dall and NY at home to teams that have out play you (yes we lost I know but we control that game and showed more). if you can take 1 of those games you go to 9-7 and drop anotehr loss to 1 of your division rivals. Dal rest of schedulle. den,NYG,kc, WAS,CAR,stl. we have the toughest schedulle if we como up with a 3 -3 record in this last lenght I think we did ok and that would give us a 10 -6 record. NYG: SEATTLE,dal,PHI,kc,WAS,OAK they have a pretty easy schedulle that could easy become in a 4-2 or 5-1 record down the strech the only bad thing going for them is that they have 4 road games and 3 division games that could come back to hunt them. prediction 11-5 |
Re: Den VS Dal.... NYG vs SEA...Don't be scared of Optimism!
I agree with your assessment D'Boyz. I think this Sunday's game is a must win, but most definitely, our division games are also a must win. Unless there is total collaspe with teams like Carolina, Tampa Bay, or Atlanta, I believe we need to win out in order to be a shoe in for the playoffs.

Re: Den VS Dal.... NYG vs SEA...Don't be scared of Optimism!
im not sure, but am i the only one still not sold on eli manning(especially after the last 2 weeks)the redskins need to worry about beating the chargers and then they can watch the scoreboard.

Re: Den VS Dal.... NYG vs SEA...Don't be scared of Optimism!
We're not gonna lose 3 in a row. That's a guarantee.

Dallas could not move the ball on a weak Detroit defense and the bitch ass Refs bailed them out on four possessions on third down only to have them score on all four plays after that. Even Parcells spoke about how shitty they played. As for the Giants, Manning will not win another road game this year. He has ony one road win against San Francisco. He has consistenly waited for the fourth quarter to complete a series of passes and at FedEx field he's going to rust alot of passes. The Redskins still are most balanced team on defense and offense. Our defense must stop giving up big plays at the end of the fourth quarter. If this happens we we win easily the next six games. |

SUNRA, I don't think you can put all our woes and losses on the defense. Granted, they have made a fair number of mistakes, particularly with respect to the long ball (as you pointed out). However, they scored more points than our offense last week. Moreover, our offense has been inconsistent this year. In the Bears, Cowboys, Giants, and Raiders game they looked awful. Against the Broncos, Chiefs, Seahawks, and Eagles they looked decent. Against the Bucs and 49ers they looked real sharp. The way I see it, they've had as many bad days as good ones. We need consistency on both sides of the ball (and the good kind of consistency). |
Re: Den VS Dal.... NYG vs SEA...Don't be scared of Optimism!
Wow- I agree. We call ourselves fans of the Redskins, so we need to hope to hell that Dallas and New York fall apart and we gain some momentum. I still think we are a playoff team, when we decide to be. You can call me a dipshit at the end of the season, but I think we will be in the playoffs.

The key to stopping the pass is getting Cornelius Griffin back in there. If his injury is that bad then, put him on IR and replace him with another veteran. I hope we can get John Abraham. |

It's that the first post you read of me to get your opinion or you're just bias for me to be a Cowboy the guy said he wants to bet that your team would win the division, I'm ready to take that bet it's nothing wrong and it's not trash talk or anything I just dissagree with his assesment. OK |

I totally agree. Griff is the key to our passing defense. In fact. he's the key to our entire defense. |
