I Love Tony!!!
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/12/04/AR2005120401213.html
"Late last week my colleagues Sally Jenkins and Tom Boswell wrote columns ripping the Redskins as hopelessly mediocre. Each in their signature way -- Boz, using statistics; Sally, from her home in New York -- made specific fun of me because of my optimistic opinion that the Redskins would win the rest of their games, beginning with the Lambs in St. Louis. Who's laughing now, huh?" .......... "This was a vintage Joe Gibbs formula win: Give up nothing in the second half, and pound the ball relentlessly. It's the formula Gibbs will try to replicate in Arizona next Sunday. I bring this up because at the end of the first half, the Fox head Brian Baldinger lashed out at Gibbs for not scoring enough points and being unreceptive to input. Baldinger essentially called Gibbs a mastodon, and insinuated that the NFL game had passed him by. I checked with the desk to find out how many Super Bowl rings Mr. Baldinger has. He has none. He's rich in opinion, though." Godbless Tony Kornheiser! A quite lovable Redskins fan. He hears us! Sally Jenkins won't write an article this week will she? HELL NO! I think it's pathetic she's got a job reporting for the Post on the Redskins. Let's put her on Sunday Bowling coverage. By the way why is Brent Musberger doing Sunday bowling??? He's better than these Fox jerkoffs. In the second half I put on the radio to hear Sam, Sonny and Larry. I miss Frank. Next week I'll start with them while watching the broadcast, cause I'm sickened and sick of them. GO TONY!!! GO SKINS!!! |
Re: I Love Tony!!!
winning football vintage 1980,run the ball, run some more, and control time of possesion.did we end up with no turnovers?
|
Re: I Love Tony!!!
NO turnovers, but you're missing my point! Kornheiser called out Sally Jenkins and super dufus Brian Baldinger. Kornheiser gets my game ball for Monday articles! Great read, funny, and damn true. Where's Sally's article? And Brian how about Sunday bowling?
|
Re: I Love Tony!!!
I like Tony K. I think he's one of the better writers on the post.
|
Re: I Love Tony!!!
Very Refreshing
|
Re: I Love Tony!!!
you hit that right on the head about baldinger.is this the best fox has to offer?sally jenkins likes to play the viilan to get people talking,i dont pay her to much mind
|
Re: I Love Tony!!!
Best line: "Sally, from her home in New York -- made specific fun of me..."
From her home in NY! Badabing bizzacht! |
Re: I Love Tony!!!
Baldinger really is the worst analyst on TV, perhaps the worst in the history of sports.
I like Tony's take, but the fact is when things are going south you're going to face a lot of criticism, some justified, some not. |
Re: I Love Tony!!!
I think Baldinger is better that Bill Maas. Of course that's like saying I'd rather have diarrhea than vomitting.

I thought the safety was a turnover, but I guess not. In retrospect, it wouldn't make sense to count it as a turnover since then the rams would have recovered it in the endzone. I like the shot at Jenkins, but I still can't stand Cornheiser. |
I love that Tony totally called her out...he's totally one of us man! |
Re: I Love Tony!!!
if she doesnt write an article, someone should email her and call her out on it, shes already used up all her excuses for not writing when we won, earlier

He doesn't really add anything to a discussion. I appreciate that he's a rabid DC sports fan, but that doesn't make him a good sports journalist. He's style is to be entertaining, not incisive or even contemplative. For entertaining sports commentary, I go with the Junkies. With the exception of the occasional article, I haven't watched, listen to, or read Kornheiser's stuff for years. |
Re: I Love Tony!!!
this is what sally said
"If you listen to Mr. Tony's radio show, you've heard his message of hope. If the Redskins can win at St. Louis and Arizona, they will be 7-6, and then anything is possible, especially with the NFC East still in a tumult. They could even run the table. The trouble is that nothing in the Redskins' recent play would lead you to think they can do it. If you believe they can, you probably wear a Redskins belt buckle." |

Re: I Love Tony!!!

|
Re: I Love Tony!!!
i like tonk k. and wilbon. i didn't like pti at first but now i think it's a great show. i dont read the post much thankfully but it's good to see that b@#ch get put in her place.
on a side note. i think bill maas is far worse than baldinger. but they are def the worst ones. its either the radio broadcast or mute for me. |

LOL!!!!!!! Great call.. I completely agree. |

ABC, CBS and ESPN have much better ones, even NBC had better commentators back when they had nfl games. |

I totally agree. Also, Baldinger is THE worst announcer/commentator out there. The guys is a total toolbag. |
Re: I Love Tony!!!
I totally agree about the wack FOX commentators--actually, I thought Baldinger WAS Mass for the first quarter or so. What weasles. I just refuse to believe that there is no one else in this nation better qualified to call games than these bozos.
As for Tony, this was a great piece. I like him, but I definetely prefer it when he's being relatively positive and not so snippy and sarcastic. But this was a good column--he called out the right folks, and was psyched for the win. (Anyway, for the Bandwagon alone, he gets a free pass in my book!) |
Re: I Love Tony!!!
I love Tony, have since the day that he and Wilbon were talking about the crazy names people give their kids these days, and when Wilbon asked him if he thought it was okay, Tony said, "No, it's not okay and here's why. When my son was born, I wanted to name him Budweiser. So his name would be Budweiser Kornheiser, obviously. But my wife wouldn't let me do it, so none of these people should be able to do it either." Classic.
And the guy knows his sports. As far as the FOX commentators, they were acting as if the game was over as soon as we went up 24-9. I was pissed, especially after our last 3 blown wins. At least we can win a damn game on Fox though. I hate CBS because we ALWAYS lose, I don't care if they don't have anything to do with it or not. |
Re: I Love Tony!!!
Actually this isn't the first time Kornheiser or Wilbon, for that matter, has called Sally J. out on commenting on D.C. teams from her N.Y. office.
I can't remember exactly when or which team, but Wilbon really ripped her on TV a couple of years ago over this same thing. So sweet! |

Re: I Love Tony!!!
Yeah, that was it TAF....good memory!!
