Redskins Topps Football Card Collection Grows
Hey ya'll know I'm a 43 year old man that collects football cards and yet you still let me hang around. heh heh hehe Thanks
Well, I am trying to collect the same cards I grew up on and that is Topps Bubble Gum cards and once you get before 1955 they were Bowman. Yesterday I hit a milestone. I now have ALL cards from 1980 to the Present! I have 4 more years to get in the 1970's and things are going to get hard and more expensive. Take a look at where I am in my collecting. http://mikehedrick.com/cardcollection.html In 2006 I plan on scanning or photographing the years and get the whole collection online for viewing and also make it searchable so you can pull up all of one players cards through the years. If you see a hole in my collection you can help with by all means contact me and I will trade or buy. I counted and I also have 25 autographed cards and things too. peace HTTR mike <>< |

Re: Redskins Topps Football Card Collection Grows
My wife keeps asking me ever time I get a new set or edition.....
How much is all this worth now? Like she is going to bump me off when it hits her magic number. lol As a collection I have heard it would be worth more than 10X the amount of the all it's parts because it is an intact complete collection. Priceless to me and will never be sold but given to my son Elijah for him to continue to add to and pass down...tilll a greedy wife sells it all. lol |
Re: Redskins Topps Football Card Collection Grows
I used to collect cards, I'd just buy lots on ebay for a few dollars and I have 2 books full of random cards. I had seperated by year at one point so I'll list the ones I got here. The first page of 8 cards doesnt have a year listed on them anywhere. The players face is on the left with a yellow background with an action shot on the right side with a blue background: (these say t.c.g. on back Topps chewing gum)
1 Eddie Laborn 12 Lavern 'Torgy' Torgeson 36 Leo Elter 48 Gene Brito 60 Charles Drazenovich 72 Sam Baker 84 Volney Peters 98 Joe Scudero 1964 Sam Huff in Giants Uni #185 These next ones have an NFL logo in the top left corner and read P.C.G.C & S.P.C.E. Inc on the back I dont think they are Topps and Im also unsure of year, but I do know that they are after 1964 and before 1970 nevertheless: 181 Washington Redskins Football Team 183 Chris Hanburger 185 Sonny Jurgensen 186 Bobby Mitchell 187 Brig Owens 188 Jim Shorter 197 A.D. Whitfield 1971 Topps cards: 50 Sonny Jurgensen 237 Curt Knight 192 Manny Sistrunk 1972 Topps cards: 51 Curt Knight 142 Roy Jefferson 168 Roland McDole 1976 Topps cards 46 Dave Robinson 78 Brig Owens 106 Diron Talbert 134 Len Hauss 159 Walt Sweeney 179 Jim Tyrer 200 Larry Brown 277 Jerry Smith 332 Pat Fischer 392 Moses Denson 419 Chris Hanburger 444 Roy Jefferson 303 Verlon Biggs 506 Mike Bragg 364 Mark Moseley All the rest are already blocked in Red from your web page. I do have a scanner if you want a scan. Just drop me a note tpartin@comcast.net or private me here... |

Re: Redskins Topps Football Card Collection Grows
Here is a picture of the two books I have my cards in. On the left is 1948-1979 and on the right is the now complete 1980-2005 book.
I'm still waiting on a couple of those 1948 cards that will be on that left page. Check out my fancy Database for searching the cards by.....year. lol Yeah I'm a geek but....I do have a nice collection! Re: Redskins Topps Football Card Collection Grows
Warpath and I have struck a deal!
The top 8 cards he mentions are 1957 cards and I can use them in my collection. He collects Pennants and stuff so I am trading a 1992 NFC Division Championship Game Pennant for those cards. We made the deal on AIM but I wanted to let ya'll know deals get made. Thanks bro! |

Re: Redskins Topps Football Card Collection Grows
I found this thread when I was doing some research for my collection and it prompted me to do with my vintage cards what SammyBaughFan was going to do with his cards.
I finally found the time to scan and create a website and blog around my vintage Redskins card collection. It was a ton of work to do, but I am glad I did it. If you are interested in vintage Redskins cards from 1935-1972, google "Redskins Card Museum" and take it from there. (The site won't let me post a link, though the link in my profile takes you to the same place) There is a link to the blog from the main site. Any feedback is appreciated. David |

Re: Redskins Topps Football Card Collection Grows
In the 1980 topps set, the wide receivers that got cards were:
Danny Buggs John Mcdaniel Ricky Thompson Weren't they the legendary "Posse"? |

~shudders thinking SBF was back
LOL... didn't that all come from the April Fool's joke several years ago? The one about the mods splitting up the site? Man, that was classic, I was LMAO days over that one. |

Re: Redskins Topps Football Card Collection Grows
Holy flerking shnit, I thought the site was about to be full of "dewd"s and BBQ tips all over again and I was a little scared/excited.
Anyway, I went through the small card collection I had as a kid a few months ago and it brought back some great memories. Most of the cards I have are from around 1990-1992 so you know there are a ton of great Skins in there, not to mention guys like Barry Sanders, Bo Jackson, LT, to name a few. It all makes me wish that collecting cards had been more of a hobby for me back then. |

I wasn't being serious. Bad joke, I guess. I was just pointing out that McDaniel, Buggs, and Thompson weren't exactly a stellar receiving corps. |
