Tony Dungy has left the team temporarily to go to Tampa. More details to come on this breaking news story.
This is on NFL.com and CBS Sportsline this morning. Man, I can't even begin to feel for this guy - I hope his family gets through this. |
Re: Tony Dungy's son found dead
wow, horrible news
|
Re: Tony Dungy's son found dead
I saw that this morning. Very tragic, espeically around the holidays.
|
Re: Tony Dungy's son found dead
That is terrible! We need to keep Tony in our prayers. I can't imagine what must be going through his mind right now.
|
Re: Tony Dungy's son found dead
definitely horrible. What a way to ruin the holidays for Dungy. Hope he makes it through this.
|
Re: Tony Dungy's son found dead
Damn! Man prayers out to Dungy and his family. Wow.
|
Re: Tony Dungy's son found dead
all the redskins prayers are with the dungy family
|
Re: Tony Dungy's son found dead
terrible news, let's keep him in our prayers.
|
Re: Tony Dungy's son found dead
I seriously just read that and felt like I was reading breaking news that one of my own family members died.
Thoughts and prayers are defintley with Tony in this time, especially right before the holidays. |
Re: Tony Dungy's son found dead
incredibly painful news. I know what it's like to lose a couple family members around this time of the year so my thoughts and hopes definitely go out to Mr. Dungy's family.
|
Re: Tony Dungy's son found dead
My prayers are with Tony and his family. Just terrible.
|
Re: Tony Dungy's son found dead
Football doesn't matter right now for me. I feel absolutely horrible for the Dungy's, for having to live through this tragedy at all, much less this close to the holidays.
Coach Dungy, you and your loved ones are in my prayers. |
Re: Tony Dungy's son found dead
what a horrible thing to happen, and what a horrible time ...
My freind just brought up a point, he said he hopes that Tony doesn 't feel any guilt or beat himself up about maybe not being there enough for his son because of his job. As you know these coaches spend SO much time working ...I hope that is not the case. must be tough man ... |
Re: Tony Dungy's son found dead
OMG this is horrible.
|
Re: Tony Dungy's son found dead
man. i saw a thing on tv about him and his son not long ago. he was attending some college in tampa bay andn john lynch took care of him when he was still in tampa bay. this is shocking
|
Re: Tony Dungy's son found dead
What an absolute tragedy. My prayers are definitely with the Dungys. Now Tony Dungy has to do what's best for his family even if that means sitting out the rest of the season. If the Colts go on to lose their next two games and get bounced out in their first playoff game well then....so what? The Colts, or any team for that matter, are so irrelevant compared to this. Sad, very sad.

Re: Tony Dungy's son found dead
I heard it was probably a suicide - that is sooo horrible! Definitely makes all our petty football issues seem insignificant... Even more tragic considering what was probably Dungy's best year ever is now without a doubt his worst. Horrible...
|
Re: Tony Dungy's son found dead
Losing a child, to me would be unrecoverable! Making it worse, apparently it was a suicide. On some level FOREVER, he and his family will (falsely) carry the burden "they should have done something to stop it". Truly a tragedy of the worst kind! He and his family go to the top of my prayer list
|
Re: Tony Dungy's son found dead
Lord,
I come before you right now in the mighty, precious name of Jesus! Lord, I pray for the Dungy family, that out of this situation, their faith in you would indeed be strengthend, souls saved from hell, lives changed, and hearts healed! Lord, I pray for the Indianapolis Colts, the NFL players, and the friends and associates of young Dungy. I pray that they would see you, even in the midst of this very tragedy. Most of all, Lord, I thank you for being there for us, as our comfort and our strength. Even in our very time of need. I thank you for your Blessed Holy Spirit, which does bring comfort. For you too Lord, do truly know what it is to lose a Son. I too was lost, but now I am found! Thank you Lord! For it is in Jesus mighty name, I pray. Amen! |

that is what really scares me, there is no way that Tony is not going to blame himself if that is the case, I REALLY HOPE, it wasn't a suicide or drugs ... |
Re: Tony Dungy's son found dead
How awful. Prayers are with the Dungys.
|
Re: Tony Dungy's son found dead
One of the worst possible things that could of happened to anyone. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Dungy's. What a horrible horrible thing.
|
Re: Tony Dungy's son found dead
Guys, I a have a very close friend that works for the Colts and I e-mailed her this morning when I read the news. Just terriblel!!! I hope there was no foul play involved. I am sure we will learn more as the hours pass today. The media is probably not at liberty to say much until Tony and his family get there.

Re: Tony Dungy's son found dead
Oh man, this is sucks!
|
Re: Tony Dungy's son found dead
that is a shock, real sad

Re: Tony Dungy's son found dead
this might make you guys feel "a little" better ... excerpt from this article (link below) , by the way what a man Tony Dungy must be ...
“The routine will be exactly as if Tony was here,” he said. “We have a great role model in Tony, and we will emulate our leader Polian said he had spoken several times with Dungy today and said the stricken father was holding up well. “He’s Tony – he’s the most amazing person in the world. He’s a rock, and as much as is humanly possible, he’s doing OK.” http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20051222/SPORTS03/512220474 |
Re: Tony Dungy's son found dead
What an awful thing to occur, to one of the nicest guys in the NFL, shooot in general. How do you deal with something like that? My prayers certainly go out to him and his family

Re: Tony Dungy's son found dead
Anyone thinking that this was to derail IND from going undefeated?
Anyone thinking that this was to derail IND from going undefeated?
Ok, for starters that's just stupid. Secondly, they lost the status of "undefeated" on Sunday - Mr. Dungy's son passed away this morning. How the hell would the two be related??? |
Re: Tony Dungy's son found dead
huh?
I don't know what's more confusing. The apparent lack of any grammatical structure of the sentence or the lack of knowledge displayed by the thought? |
Re: Tony Dungy's son found dead
I just saw what was reported to be his sons profile page on "myspace". I could post it but I am not going to, you could probably find it on your own. leave at he was a very troubled young man. I feel so bad for Dungy. He really seams like one of the good guys in pro sports
|
Re: Tony Dungy's son found dead
This is so unexpected. Condolences to the Dungy family. It must be a terrible time right now for Tony and I hope he is able to get through this and not focus on football right now (even though that must be hard with the playoffs right around the corner).
|
Re: Tony Dungy's son found dead
this is terrible... condolences to the family.
|
Re: Tony Dungy's son found dead
My heart goes out to Dungy. He, along with the likes of Gibbs and Dick Vermeil, seem to be real class acts. I hope his family is able to get through this loss. Losing a child this way must be terrible.

I am in awe with the words you typed....and you are not alone: somebody else said something to the effect that this must be terrible for him with the playoffs around the corner??? I am so proud to be a Warpath/Redskin fan, everybody else has their thoughts where they should be. Whoever you TWO clowns are, do you think that Tony Dungy is thinking about the playoffs, for the LORD's sake! It is apparent you TWO have never LOST something bigger than a football game, and YOU should count your blessings. I have LOST! Football is a game. Life is NOT a game. I am disgusted. My prayers to the Dungy family, and ALL of those who have had to loose a piece of their lives prematurely. |
