I've started up a new website called [URL="http://www.albanytolakegeorge.com"]AlbanytoLakeGeorge.com[/URL] and I need a favor from you guys, I need you to help me get some traffic going and I could also use some feedback.

The idea of the site is a local area website that has a business directory where users and leave their ratings and reviews, and there are also message boards to hopefully keep people coming back day after day. Sort of a local area homepage that will appeal to a wide audience.

Please check it out, sign up if you wish, just lie and put NY for your location :)

Feel free to help me get the forums going, or just provide me with some feedback regarding the layout, suggestions, ideas, whatever.

I've already PM'd people here that I know lives in my area... but if I misssed you let me know, I'm going to be looking for moderators so if you are interested in helping out let me know.

Matty, have you thought about moving your flash animation behind your logo and stretching it out? It would look pretty hot animated behind that logo.

I went to lake george once. I was really young, maybe 9 or 10. At that time I lived in Ohio, I was spending the summer here in DC with my uncle and he took my cousins and I along with my second cousins and their parents up to lake george. I was having a good old time and we rented out a boat. It was a fast cool boat and I got to drive it for a bit. Then I went on the boat with me and 3 of my uncles. We jumped into the water and then came back in. The decided they wanted to see how fast the boat could go and went really fast for like 4 or 5 minutes. After a while we slowed down and were going to an area with cones. We thought we were to stay on the outside of the cones but then we found out we were supposed to stay on the inside. The reason the cones were there was because it was really really shallow, shallow enough to mess up the propelers on the boat. It took us forever to get back because the boat was going like 1 mile per hour. We got back and the guy was pissed because they just bought the engine or something and we messed it up and we also paid the $5 insurance.

That's just a placeholder for now, it's going to be a rotating banner once we get things going.

I registered as newbie. I'm close enough to the area to make my presence worthwhile. I also contributed to a couple of the threads already.

The main issue I have with the site is that it's too congested. There are too many links on the front page. If this is directory site with supporting form then you should focus most of the attention on the directory.

I guess I have been spoiled by Google. I rather like the idea of simple UI...it adds to the trustworthiness of the site.
