Are we better off keeping Betts or trading him?
OK I haven't seen anything out of Duckett yet to know if he can carry the load, but he should be able to. If he plays well Sunday, I'm wondering if Betts starts being surplus to rrequirements.
I've never thought of him as a #1 5-6 season player, but some team may feel he can help. Considering our lack of quality depth at CB and OL, anyone think he could be trade bait once Portis if fully fit? |
Re: Are we better off keeping Betts or trading him?
our secondary situation is full on dire. and we're one injury away from saying the same thing about the o-line.
same can't be said about our running back situation, Betts is a redundant luxury, he's not even a team leader, he wouldn't be missed. if we can good value for him, trade him trade him trade him. |
Re: Are we better off keeping Betts or trading him?
i think we should trade betts for a young corner with some upside

Re: Are we better off keeping Betts or trading him?
I disagree... Duckett and Betts are different kinds of RBs. Betts is Portis's backup. TJ is our goalline guy. We will always need a backup for Portis. Duckett is the luxury.

i think duckett should be the backup and sellers should be our goaline guy, we dont utilize sellers enough |
Re: Are we better off keeping Betts or trading him?
Good thing Gibbs is making the personnel decisions. Duckett is clearly better suited for the goalline role... if only for his experience.

Re: Are we better off keeping Betts or trading him?
I was hoping that this was an old thread...
Are you on crack? Betts is the starting runningback on Sunday. It looks to me like Portis' shoulder could linger for several weeks if not the whole season. If you asked Gibbs this question right now he wouldn't even acknowledge it. |
Re: Are we better off keeping Betts or trading him?
I'd love to know who would want to trade for Betts at this point and give us anything worth while.

Some decisions are going to be made where RB is concerned, but I don't think it's at this time. Depending on Portis's health that situation will remain the same for the remainder of the season.

I agree. However I'd be surprised if Betts stays beyond this season. We've already made a big commitment to Portis and I think Betts will try to find a starting job next year. Even if he returned to the Skins as a backup he'd probably want starter money and I don't think we can afford it given our needs at other positions. |
Re: Are we better off keeping Betts or trading him?
I love Ladell... but I can't name too many places where he would start. Maybe Houston because of their situation.

Re: Are we better off keeping Betts or trading him?
Betts is a career backup in this league. He's simply not very durable and hasn't shown a whole lot of heart while running, in my opinion. While Betts and Duckett are very different. Betts and Cartwright aren't. I'd take rock since we'll prolly lose Betts this offseason anyways, try to get something for him.

Re: Are we better off keeping Betts or trading him?
who wants him? he has very little value cause he's a #2 that's going to require a new contract. we're not going to get anybody better than we already have for him, and until portis is 100%, he has MUCH more value to the skins than any other team in the league.
after this year i do think he'll be gone though. cartwright has a 3 year vet min deal as the #3, portis is still too expensive to consider letting go, so we either pick duckett, draft a guy or see if anyone is on the market for cheap. if duckett gets a big deal and betts is cheap to re-sign, he might stay around, but injury risks at important backup spots aren't generally a good idea. |
