Does Anyone Think Carlos Rogers Will End Up Being Good

Does Anyone Think Carlos Rogers Will End Up Being Good??? Or is his poor play a sign of whats to come for the next 3 years??

Carlos Rogers is probably one of those guys who can have a long, very solid career if the circumstances around him are right. Right now he's not showing many signs of being the game changer you expect from a top 10 pick.

well last year it looked like he was making strides... From the looks of things now, I'd say he's a number 2. A decent number 2... but he's going to have to make some serious strides before I'd want him to be a number 1 CB.

First he's got to learn proper technique cause his sucks! Second, he needs to learn how to bump and run! HAIL from MCUSA!

I agree with all points above...Mr. Rogers ( and his neighboorhood...lol, im done sorry, couldnt just let that slide) will have to step up if he wants to be a #1 CB. Another question may be, does he really WANT to be a #1 CB? I know that sounds odd but it seems to me that many players come ino the league to get paid, thats it. Not be a pro bowler, not be the best, but get f-ing paid. Carlos HAS made some big strides since last year but this year, it seems he's slipping back into his old crappy rountine again. I think the game against Indy will be a deciding factor (at least in my mind) as to wether or not he will be a #1 CB in washington in the future, not saying that he has too much competition there.....but thats a whole 'nother story.....

to early to say if you ask me. i see some good things but see some awful things as well. i know one thing he is terrible at...picking off passes. remember the gift hasselbeck threw him in the playoffs last year that he dropped and against the giants this season eli threw him one right in the bread basket and he couldnt hold onto it.

Still to early to give up on him. He battled injuries last year and missed a good chunk of camp and the early part of the season. This year NOBODY looks good defensively so it's tough to really gauge his progression. I think right now this struggles are a reflection of the unit as a whole.

The guy has the tools. He's fast enough, has good size and he hits. He just needs more game experience and I honestly think he's going to be a quality starting corner for a long time to come.

I think the problem is, most of us were expecting Champ Bailey, and we got Fred Smoot. And I do think Rogers is as good, or better than Smoot was at this point in his career. The difference is, Smoot had Champ on the other side for the first few seasons of his career. Rogers does have some things he needs to work on, like playing the ball instead of the receiver, and not giving such a large cushion. I do however, believe that he is one of the better tackling corners in the league. It'll just take time for him to develop into a top tier corner.

I think its a little early to tell if he is going to be solid. There are few corners who come out of college and are true #1 corners. It takes time for these guys to adjust, both physically and mentally. Champ was one of the few exceptions of being a legit #1 out of college. He would definately be a good #2, but a #1 is hard to say at this point.

no...unless he goes back into the zone system that he excellend in during his college days. Perhaps he could put some weight on and play safety. he's not a bad tackler (sort of), he is a bad cover guy.

I think he's going to be an excellent #1 corner, and this year will help him along the way. True, he has been picked on more than usual this year, but on most of those plays he's been right there with the guy. Once he starts looking for the ball when the receivers do, he'll break up more passes.

Technique you can learn. He's got enough size, speed, and talent to be a #1 guy. It's only his 2nd season. And we've had some gawd-awful corners here before, or am I the only one to remember the Martin Mayhew era?

Kinda like it's hard to blame just Brunell for the offensive struggles, you can't pinpoint the poor coverage just on Carlos. Especially with Kenny Wright playing even worse coverage on the other side.

in my redskins madden franchise, rogers has steadily improved and he is rated in the mid 90's ... I'm just saying. ;)

He has shown the signs but just keeps dropping them. The funny thing is if you read his statments (Redskins.com) on not playing this week he says he likes to play physical at the line scrimmage. I guess 10 yards off the line is physical play.

How can you possibly say that he's been "right there with the guy" are you watching the same games? he gives a 5-8 yard cushion religiously...in no way has he shown an ability to keep up. that said, he does have all the tools, let hope he learns to use them...and catch.
