What is CP worth
 

Clinton doesnt really seem to fit in Saunders's system. Saunders's system seems to involve alot of cutback lanes and catching the ball out of the flat. Portis is more of a downhill runner, he just keeps going forward, and he does not have the best hands. I think Portis is terrific, but economically we could have someone just as productive as him in Saunders's system for much much less. I hope Portis adapts to Saunders's system or Saunders molds his system to fit CP more, but if things do not work out and he does not produce under Saunders like he did for Gibbs, what do you think we could get for him? Draft pick wise preferably, or mention people you think we need and could get for him.

CP fits with any system because he does everything well. He isn't taylored to Saunders system, but trust me, he's worth more to this team than anything we could reasonably get for him.

Seriously, he is fit for the system. Just bc he sits on the bench he isnt fit for it? He was TD machine until he got benched.

I know im really lost at where this post came from, Suanders knows what Portis does best and i assure you anything we got for him would not do anyhitng good compared to what he does now, why would you want to get rid of the guy anyway?

Do we really need to do this EVERY time Betts has a good game?

Portis is the better back, for this system, for ANY system, period.

Don't get me wrong, I love Betts as our backup, and he obviously is a good RB, but he dosent touch Portis.

Can lock this thread now...Betts will not be a Redskin next season and CP is the man on this team.

I'm not saying that he isn't good in Saunders's system, I'm just saying that his strenghts that make him so great aren't highlighted under Saunders. He can still produce, but not to his potential, and for what we're paying him, we could get about the same production for a third the amount.

edit: Portis is best on a team dedicated to the run- I dont think thats Saunders

edit: and dont forget this is all hypothetical, really why I started this is not to say that we should deal Portis, I mainly just wanted to know what we could get

how many times do we have to rehash this?

portis ran inside and outside in denver, and he's the best outside runner we have by far (due to his speed). he has great hands for a RB, though he's never going to be LT or faulk.

the bad fit for saunders system is our O line, and our FB, who isn't that fast. saunder's system had really good OL guys, and our line can't do what they did (i don't think we have 2 HoF quality linemen either).

the other problem was brunell refusing to go deep often and the overuse of screen passes, which left defenders setting up right where the runs were going.

it was online somewhere, (maybe wtop's website?) i didn't bother keeping it cause it really wasn't worth a second listen... it was funny though, and then moss came on afterwards and kept it going.
