I'm very happy the skins resigned wade. Maybe we should keep wade at rt and move jansen to G. Jansen really has been his old self since his injury in the HOF game. Hail to the skins.

I don't think we should screw with our depth. Lets try to get a guard cheap.

why do fans on this board always want to have players switch positions? if it was that easy, every team would do it

I was wondering if you would applaud this move. I am glad to see that you like it. The only difference in opinion that I have with you is moving Jansen. From a continuity standpoint, I think that it makes sense to leave the changes to one position. The line was pretty good last year with Jansen, so I don't see any reason to have two starting positions in flux.

From JLC's post, it sounds like Wade is very talented (and harder to beat than Jansen according to some of the defensive players).

This was a great move on a few levels:

One, it sound like the skins gamble that Wade would get healthy was a good one.

Two and more importantly, this guy has the skills to play tackle. God forbid Samuels or Jansen go down, the line won't crumble.

Three, it was fiscally responsible. We let the overhyped player go (Dock) and replace him with a guy who is probably more skilled.

I firmly believe that Dock's stock benefited because he was sandwiched between a perennial Pro-bowler and a center that plays at a Pro-bowl level.

I am really looking forward to the draft! Trade down and boost the D-line!

it seem to work for jocaby later in his career thought it might help jansen too.

Leave JJ right where his strenghts are at RT, not at guard.
Good move signing Wade for depth or if he can play guard on the left side?
But his strengths are also Tackle, either way it's a good signing. :)

a lot of teams rotate offensive lineman...

You guys are crazy to think they'll move Jansen, that would be a horrible idea.

I think this a good move because I'd rather promote from with in than pay someone else a rack of money, it shows the players the skins are devoting themselves to loyalty to a certaint extent

Whatever Joe Bugel wants to do is okay by me, if that means moving guys around then so be it.

I am one of those fans who suggested early on when we realized Dockery was going to sign elsewhere, the idea of resigning Wade in hopes he and the team would consider such a move. I made the suggestion absent the thought of what other teams may do, but moreso based on the fact Wade is a good talent, too good in fact to be considered a back-up player. Had not this opportunity presented itself, he's a player we very well could have lost mainly because he wanted to be a starter for some team. I think teams do interchange C/G & G/T when the need becomes neccessary, and the player has the flexibility. It's to every teams advantage when you have players on the O-Line with the ability to play multiple positions.

But to answer that question, we first have to answer the question, "who's the guy as of right now?"

In my best estimation, the answer to the second question is Amobi Okoye. And in that case, the answer to the first question is that we have to stay ahead of both the Texans (who are looking to further improve their D-Line), and the Falcons (because Petrino coached Okoye in college).

So unless circumstances change (like Brady Quinn falls to us at 6), the only team we could afford to trade down with and still land our guy would be Minnesota at 7. And since there is no perogative for Minnesota to move up just one spot, it looks like we are going to have to stand pat at 6.

An alternative option would be to take advantage of Alan Branch's inexplicably falling draft stock, and trade down to the bottom half of the first round in the hopes of landing him. But that's risky for many reasons.

The safest thing to do would be to take the highest player on our draft board at No. 6, and I believe that's Okoye.
