Does anyone think this could help with depth on the D-line or should they leave it alone. Thoughts?

Re: Eric Hicks

No. We need a difference maker now. Not just depth.

We need pass rush, I don't think this guy can give that.

I have a question that requires some knowledge of players' salary situations. Does anyone know of any decent D linemen, DT's especially, who might be cut for cap reasons in June? Does Kris Jenkins come under this category? At this point, this is the only way that I see for us to shore up the d-line.

Maryland Alum, Solid starter, stout against the run. I say we bring him in for the Vet Minimum.

2007 Scouting Report - Scouts Inc.
Grade: 73 | Key
Alert: None

Comment:
Hicks is athletic, consistent and experienced. He is tough, durable and competitive. He has good instincts and play recognition. He has the play strength and leverage against the run to effectively stack and shed blocks. He can hold the point of attack and play laterally down the line. He has good initial quickness to get into gaps and disrupt blocking patterns. He has good awareness to find the ball and gives good effort in pursuit from the back side. He is active player and a strong tackler in the box. He has a good combination of speed and power. He has active hands and the strength off the edge to push tackles back into the quarterback. He has enough speed and quickness to bend the edge. But Hicks doesn't finish very well. He lacks good closing speed. He can be late off the ball. He has to work hard to get across tackle/tight end blocks to set the edge.

Probably would be better than Reynaldo Wynn. I'd take him for the vet minimum to add some depth. He sounds durable too. He hasn't missed a game in 6 years. Let's face it people, we need D-line help badly, although his sack numbers aren't impressive.

anyone that can play even alittle bit needs to be considered at defensive line

Looks like I'll finally get my chance to make the team though I'll probably have to gain 120 pounds.

Instead of gaining weight, increase your speed and try out for receiver. You gotta be better than Cedric Bonner.
