Rookie Pool announced
Rookie Pool amounts have been announced. This is the maximum amount of cap space allocated to teams for signing draft choices and undrafted free agents.
ESPN.com - NFL - Raiders lead NFL in rookie pool allocation cash The Skins rookie pool amount is $3.432M. This leaves us between $1.5 and $2.5M of excess cap space. |
Re: Rookie Pool announced
are the rookie pools all the same? or does it go by how many draft picks you have? and thanks for the update

Re: Rookie Pool announced
Skins have like the 3rd lowest. By comparison, Oakland's rookie pool is over $6 million

why is it so low? |
Re: Rookie Pool announced
The formula for deriving each team's rookie pool is regarded as Byzantine even by the most astute team officials, and is basically a function of how many overall choices a club makes and where those picks are slotted in each round. Oakland had the initial selection in five of the seven rounds, including three of the first four stanzas, and that positioning high in almost every round also contributed to the team's rich allocation.
First of all did the sports writer just refer to the formula as "Byzantine", Hooray for the thesaurus lol. |
Re: Rookie Pool announced
so LaRon is going to need a 7yr deal to be able to get a $15 mill bonus? even then it's going to be tough signing each of the rookies with so little

That way they skimp on the rookie SB, and still pay him the big bucks.

Re: Rookie Pool announced
If some of the other rookies don't make the team do they still count against the cap? How about if we sign them to a non-roster spot aka practice squad? and then promote them later if injuries occur to other starters?

Re: Rookie Pool announced
I have never heard of the rookie pool. I did not know there was a limit to what we can sign our guys to. I would also like to see us use that extra cap space and get Cooley locked down. Give the guy an extension. PLEASE!!!!
|
Re: Rookie Pool announced
If Cooley and/or Taylor get extended I don't think it would happen until later in the year. We need to get our rookies signed first, and then we need to leave some cap room for a possible DE pickup/trade. Only then could we focus on our own guys, and that would probably take us into the regular season.
