Jason Campbell on ESPN

Right Now!!

EDIT: Sorry this ended up being really dumb, just saw that he was coming on and wanted to give you all a chance to check it out. It was "Alone with Rome" or whatever. He said nothing interesting, as always his answers were very Vanilla. Even when Rome brought up the McNabb comments from earlier this season.

On a side note I was watching whatever is before Romes show, and the guys on the show were actually giving the skins some love. They were saying that if anyone in the NFL has a secondary that matches up well with the Pats it is the Redskins (as long as smoot and rogers get healthy). But they gave us a chance to pull this out, however slight that chance may be.

I don't think we'll ever have to worry about JC sticking his foot in his mouth and saying something dumb, but at the same time don't count on him for any interesting quotes as he's just not that kind of guy.

It is cool that he's starting to get noticed though. It seems that lately anytime I hear his name mentioned on sports talk radio, it's someone praising him. Hell, I heard Peter King the other day literally gushing about him, and I also heard Colin Cowherd raving about him too.

JC sounds like Joe Gibbs. Does Joe ever say anything interesting either? Even when guys ask him about injuries, he defers to the trainers. He never gives anyone any real insight into anything that we all didn't already know. It must be on purpose.

Peter King has always liked JC. He said that he was the best qb in his class & was surprised when scouts didn't rank him higher.

I don't know if or what King said that year about our decisions in the draft, but I recall some peops here being quite unhappy w/him after dissing us & praising JC at the same time. Don't remember any details but I do remember him writing in his column on si.com that he was shocked that JC wasn't rated higher.

He's very professional at this point--everything right on script. Not a bad move for a young guy, especially when asked that McNabb question.

To see a bit more of the real JC, check out that skins TV thing "Redskins Player's Club" with Clinton Portis as interviewer. He lightens up a bit there. Plus, you sometimes see it when he's interviewing and his teammates are messing with him in the background. He's a funny guy--he likes to bust on his teammates. He's got a very Mississippi way of talking--sometimes too quick for the usual TV fare.

As he gets more experience and more confidence in front of the cameras, we'll see more of that, I'm sure. But we are never going to get anything controversial or negative from him. He's just not that kind of a guy.

I couldn't be happier with JC. He's got a lot of character, and he's played better than I expected thus far. I am most impressed with his decisions in the pocket. I think he's done a great job getting the ball out quickly, and avoiding sacks. I was watching the Dallas/Minnesota game, and T. Jackson reminded me of everything a rookie QB can do wrong. He was holding on to the ball WAY too long, and took some sacks as a result. I am thankful that JC isn't doing that.

I'd definitely say he's been worth the 2 picks we gave up for him. Props to the front office on that decision.

it definitely seems that Gibbs and the skins do their best to avoid any media attention. I guess it's all for the better. It's true that we always play worse when we are hyped up. Maybe it's just a coincidence?

I love this kid. He is taking his time and not coming out and trumpeting self congratulatory nonsense. He is a football player first and an interview second. Let him be as bland as he wants, as long as he shows up and plays as well as he has been this year.

JC is going to be an elite QB if we can keep him in the same offensive system for more than a couple seasons.

I don't know about that--ST really does not like the media, and has had some trouble in the press. JC is properly playing the role of a QB in the NFL, and he's accepting things like Rome, which he could turn down, especially in the middle of a work week. He sticks to the script, sure, but he goes out and makes the rounds. And as I said, he'll loosen up as he gets more experience--not everyone does that sort of thing naturally.
