Dimitroff Takes Over As ATL GM

ESPN - Pats college scouting director Dimitroff takes over as Falcons GM - NFL

He was responsible for much of the success of New England Pats Snyder should have got him as GM.

Dimitroff right now is riding the coattails of Belichick and Pioli. Falcons blew a big opportunity to make a significant move. They could have gotten Tom Heckert from the Eagles. Heckert doesn't have final say over Reid, but he's much more influential than Dimitroff. Instead, they picked some one who's just going to take a back seat to McKay basically. And from what I understand, he was hired merely based on a phone interview.

He's a poor argument for "Snyder Needs a GM"

I agree with your statement about Heckert he was a better pick didn't realize they hired him off a phone interview. I think he does have the eye for talent and can move the Falcons in the right directions but he is not better than Heckert. What is Heckert status?

Do you know what the hell is going on in ATL? They already have a GM so now Blank hires another guy? So are they going to have two GM's? Is McCay going to get fired? ATL is a graveyard!

Well McKay relinquished his GM duties last month so he's just President now. Meaning that his repsonsibilites are more broad, overseeing everything beyond player personnel moves.

When I say "relinquished" he was forced out of the position basically. But with Dimitroff there he'll probably still be pretty hands on. I think Blank should have either fired him completely, or let him stay on as GM
