New iPhone, lower price: 8GB $199
Arriving in early July, the new "iPhone 3G" will sell for hundreds less than the original and-as expected-will come equipped with GPS and access to AT&T's speedy HSDPA network. Also: A new version of Mac OS X is on the way, along with a major revamp of Apple's .Mac online service.

Re: New iPhone, lower price: 8GB $199
In todays economy I could not think of a better way to waste money. A cell phone is a cell phone. who needs all that extra crap.

I agree, my phone has text/internet/music capabilities but I only use my phone to call/text, I don't like using the internet on it.

The bargain is that they'll kill you with the service plans just as they currently do. The iPhone has by far the worst plans ever and I doubt that's changing anytime soon.
That's actually incorrect, saden. Have you looked at a comparable voice + data + messaging plan for a PDA on AT&T? They are at least $10 more than for the current iPhone (and identical to what the new, 3G iPhone will cost). I'm no Apple fanboy (I've used Windows Mobile for about 4 years now), but one thing that you can't say is that the plans are higher. |
Re: New iPhone, lower price: 8GB $199
Actually, it's $20 more for a PDA/Blackberry, assuming you get the same number of minutes and TXT messages. There may be a bundle that I don't know about to bring it down a little for the PDA/BB option, but it's not going to be cheaper.

Re: New iPhone, lower price: 8GB $199
This new price point definitely has me interested.

Re: New iPhone, lower price: 8GB $199
I'm definitely getting the 16gb when they come out. I need to carry something with email for work anyway. I can see if you've never used a PDA before and you don't need it for work. I like being connected, though, so I would get it anyway.

Same here. I'll probably get the 8 gig. I think 16 would be a little overkill for me. My fiance got her Iphone in February and was pissed when she heard the news. |
Re: New iPhone, lower price: 8GB $199
I'm getting the 16GB one and getting rid of my cell phone and blackberry. My 5 year old iPod broke a few months ago and I didn't bother getting it replaced because I'm getting the phone.

I got mine on Saturday - it's freaking sweet!

Re: New iPhone, lower price: 8GB $199
I was all for it until I remembered their plans. Such a shame. At least they have rollover or does that not apply for the iphone?
|
Re: New iPhone, lower price: 8GB $199
Rollover applies. AT&T actually loses money on the phones, they have to make it up on the plans. I just got mine and I love it.

Huh? Plans are cheaper than other phones. See above. |
