2012 Training Camp Competitions Open Discussion
What do you think will be the most important and impactful training camp compeitions?
A general training camp discussion thread.... |
Re: 2012 Training Camp Competitions Open Discussion
For me, its going to be the OL. If the new draftees can turn out to be what we hope they are, and push the incumbents, that can go a long way to improving the offense. The line did pretty good early then injuries hit, and we couldnt replace that effectively enough imo. A good running game and good pass blocking for RG3 will make it so much easier for RG3 to settle in and be the QB we all think he can be. If he is running for his life, that will always slow down the development of a QB. Sure he can run if needed, but I dont want that to be the norm.

Just curious, who is taking the snaps with the first team now that RGIII hasn't signed yet? Cousins?
|
Training camp hasnt started yet, so no one is taking first team reps. It's only rookies this week.

Yes .. Being that he's the only other rookie QB ... But I think RGIII will be there soon enough, long before the vets report . |

Sure hope so, either way someone needs to give and just get him in and not miss anymore time. That's what I'm worried about.

To answer the thread question:
1) Every position in the defensive backfield, starter and depth 2) DE - is Jenkins recovered and how high will he go? 3) each position in the interior OL and tackle depth |
Re: 2012 Training Camp Competitions Open Discussion
No doubt Safety and Corner

Im with you. Everytime I think about the secondary I want to vomit, it's going to be out achilles this year IMO unless Shanny and BA know and see something no one else does. Only time will tell. Reminds me of '06 after we let ryan clark go. I felt sick the whole offseason leading up to the opening game. God we we're atrocious on D that year. |

I'm hoping thats the case. Jenkins healthy and in the rotation, Kerrackpo smashing cats and Cofield just making life difficult for centers and guards should be fun to watch at the very least. |
Re: 2012 Training Camp Competitions Open Discussion
The tight end position will be intriguing to watch. The Redskins, as reported recently, didn't sign Fred Davis to a long term contract. Niles Paul is in the mix as everyone knows. Paul might end up starting a few games this year. He could have a huge impact in the passing game. Chris Cooley is coming off of that knee injury. Based on what Cooley has done in the past, you have to assume that he wants to be a key part of the offense as well.

Davis is without a doubt our best tight end, a position he's played since college. Paul barely got on the field at his natural positon last year. He's converting to a new position, one which he's never played a snap at. So why would Paul start a few games over Fred Davis? |
