Kudos to Alfred Morris
Man I am glad to see this kid get some recognition too.
Redskins @Redskins #Redskins RB Alfred Morris (@Trey_Deuces) is nominated for the NFL's Rookie of the Week. Voting details: The Redskins Blog | Vote Alfred Morris For Rookie Of The Week Expand
He has done nothing but pound the rock every week, and I do think he gets as much attention as any rookie could when the next big thing is on his same team. He has a great attitude in all the pressers I have seen, and I hope he gets it this week! |
Re: Kudos to Alfred Morris
Love Morris. First guy never brings him down, he's powerful, I'd say we're set in the backfield for the next several years. Morris is the pefect RB for this offense.

Re: Kudos to Alfred Morris
With such a good running back (and running game), I don't know know why we have performed so badly in 3rd and short situations.
Kudos to Morris though, he's one of the toughest players in our squad right now. |
Re: Kudos to Alfred Morris
Alfred Morris is rockin it, but think the Oline has finally entirely grasped and embraced the zone blocking scheme. Silverback is having his best season, but Chester, Kory L and Monty have been excellent run blocking. That interior Oline has been a quiet bright spot on the squad. Really lessens the Polumbus affect. Just think if we had a capable RT?

My wife says it's bad play calling. Usually stated as "Why are they running that gap again? It didn't work last time!" It would be funny if we weren't cheering on the same team. |

On my fantasy team whomI picked right after someone picked Roy Helu before me.I was hoping Alfred would still be there. Once I saw him run loose in preseason I knew he was going to be the back in Washington. I have him and Trent Richardson and am loving it except for Trent this week. But Alfred is a beast. |
Re: Kudos to Alfred Morris
He is 2nd in the league in rushing yards behind Arian Foster but with 30 less carries. He could easily lead the NFC in rushing yards this season.

Re: Kudos to Alfred Morris
I love this kid. With the pounding he takes, I don't know if he has a long career ahead of him, unfortunately. Really hope he can stay healthy and be a bruiser for a long time. Perhaps having Helu around will give him a spell back so he can prolong his career.

Traditional Mike Shanahan rb, guy just never stops his feet from moving. He's also quicker than he looks, overall he's the steal of the draft so far anyway.

Re: Kudos to Alfred Morris
Morris has been a really nice find.
Tough, runs downhill, great fit for this one cut and go scheme. |
Re: Kudos to Alfred Morris
Well, as usual, Mike Shanahan just lucked into a good personnel decision.
Morris is great and, I think, going to be good for quite some time. He has just enough quickness to make folks miss on occassion and just simply refuses to go down. I think I saw a stat showing that his yards after contact are pretty much off the chart. |
Morris fixes a pretty big hole caused by Helus injury/desire to use him as a change of pace back anyway.
The 2012 draft looks pretty good right now as does the 2011 draft. The key will be replicating that w/o the benefit of first round picks. Getting Morris and Griffin in the same draft will look good long term, especially if someone else from this class pans out. |
