Re: David Blough is the new offensive coordinator
Great news. Like the hire as JD5 and him already have a working relationship.
While MM woulda been nice too, my guess is they check in and needed to move fast. MM still parsing out options. |
Re: David Blough is the new offensive coordinator
Hopefully this is the next Sean McVay except this time we don’t let him walk

Re: David Blough is the new offensive coordinator
It's a pretty big leap from Assistant QB coach to OC. Let's hope he's ready for it. We really need a strong and proven DC.

Re: David Blough is the new offensive coordinator
He better rise up to the task. Think there’s was a lot of buzz about him and we didn’t want to lose him. Just don’t do the boneheaded things, KK did.

Re: David Blough is the new offensive coordinator
Awesome great news was hoping he was the pick

Re: David Blough is the new offensive coordinator
We have had so many young coaches leave here and be successful, about time we shot our shot w/ a young guy. I like it. And now him and Jayden can keep playing Horse.

True, although those young coaches were all under M. Shanahan at one point or other, I believe (McVay, O'Connell, LaFleur, K. Shanahan). Not true for Blough. The guy was actually still playing in 2023 (for context, he was playing after Tom Brady retired -- the second time). That's a really, really short time to go from backup QB to OC. I remember that Cooley used to always say that McVay was a genius and would be a terrific head coach. And he was right -- the dude is an excellent HC. I have heard positive things about Blough too, but I'll be a bit in wait and see mode. |
Re: David Blough is the new offensive coordinator
I just pray we get under center have a real run scheme and real PA. Please create better deception and less predictable packages and stop starting 5 yds behind the fuckin LOS

My thoughts exactly when I first read this. HC in waiting…. |
Re: David Blough is the new offensive coordinator
I’m getting pumped about this move. We are finding 4-5 teams had this dude on their radar for OC.
He could have gone to Detroit but chose to stay. I’m not worried about JD5 as a passer, he will be fine. I’m interested and pumped about what happens when we have that running game that compliments him. I’m hoping to see some Ben Johnson influence on the offense |
Re: David Blough is the new offensive coordinator
Bit of a gamble by DQ. Say what you will about Kingsbury, he led a top flight offense last year and even with all the injuries this year the offense was 4th overall in rushing and was far better than the defense.

Re: David Blough is the new offensive coordinator
Yeah, it is a risky move but then we gotta make bold moves sometimes. Keim explained in his podcast that Blough's offense philosophy is more aligned with Ben Johnson and Kevin O'Connell's offense philosophies although I imagine he will borrow some from Kliff's stuff tho.

Re: David Blough is the new offensive coordinator
If he’s the rising star boy genius people say he is, nothing to worry about until another team tries to steal him away as HC.

And the passing offense was obviously hampered by QB and WR injuries -- massively so. KK overall did a very good job with us, with the notable exception of a style of play that put our QB at too much risk. And that was ultimately what led to a parting of the ways. I wish the guy well -- was nothing but a pro here, and has a lot of good coaching ahead of him. I could see him end up in Cincy if Taylor falls flat again next year, assuming he doesn't get a HC gig sooner. |
