The 2026 Head Coach Hot Seat
2026 possible hot seat coaches:
Commanders- in a critical 3rd year, Dan’s on the hot seat. What is Josh’s tipping point? Missing playoffs? 7-10/8-9? Surely, 6-11 or worse and Dan is done. We need to see improvements despite our o-line/cb problems. Eagles- Despite 2 Super Bowl appearances and one win, strange vibe in Philly. If Eagles don’t meet expectations, Sirianni could be gone. Bucs- No playoffs and Bowles is gone. Bengals- Even cheap Mike Brown might have had enough, if Bengals miss playoffs. Jets- Glenn almost got fired after one year. Doubtful he improves enough to stay in 27. Packers- Lafluer has underperformed; would they move on from him, if they underperform again. I don’t think there will be that many openings but if we have one, there won’t be much competition. Plus, there’s 2 former coaches; McDermott and Tomlin, who might want back in. |
Re: The 2026 Head Coach Hot Seat
I am not sure how much I would blame LaFleur in Green Bay. I think their GM has not been particularly effective, and talent has drained out of that team in recent years (particularly on defense).
To this list I would add Schottenheimer in Dallas. If they miss the playoffs again after all the changes on D and all the hype around them this spring and summer, I could see Jerry pulling the trigger. It isn't as though Jerry has that many chances left to see a deep playoff run, Dak isn't getting younger, and I could see Jerry being impulsive. I suspect it won't happen, but if it did, I wouldn't be shocked. Would love to see that implosion. |

Have to think LaFleur is gone after this year if things continue on this trajectory

He, Bowles and Quinn are still best bets to be fired in season. |
Re: The 2026 Head Coach Hot Seat
It wouldn’t shock me if Bowles is fired tonight or tomorrow; if Bucs lose tonight.

Re: The 2026 Head Coach Hot Seat
Harbaugh is 0-5 and has to be at least in the conversation along with McDaniel as oc. Robert Saleh is 0-5 at Tennessee. Jeff Hafley is 0-5 at Miami. These are the primary names that stick out to me currently.

Re: The 2026 Head Coach Hot Seat
How attractive would this job even be next year?
Here’s the potential competition: Philly Dallas Green Bay Tampa Bay Indianapolis New York J Possible San Diego, Tennessee and Houston join the club too. I think we will be near the bottom of potential openings. |
Re: The 2026 Head Coach Hot Seat
Whether now or at the end of the season, Quinn has to go. Yesterday changed my tune with the sheer incompetence of the OC/DC and HC all at once. Defense blew a 2 score lead with 7 minutes left in the 4th. Offense didn't counter the zero blitz until the very end. HC bungled time clock management.
Horrendous and it's ALL on coaching. |

They'll make McDaniels the scapegoat in SD and he should be TBH. Herbert isn't good in McDaniel's offense. |
JD5 makes our situation so much more desirable than any of those destinations.
JD5 would be an appealing qb to start a job with. Highly talented and unique skillset. Everyone needs to keep in mind Snyder is history (sounds great I know), and Harris is in charge now. Far more desirable owner to work for. Getting a new stadium doesn't hurt either which is coming soon although I doubt this is a huge factor. This is not near as bad of a job as before.
