Re: San Fran Signs Smith
You know, I love where we are at with our guys. We may be able to take some extra time (not too long) to sign our guys. Campell shouldnt be playing htis year, so it is ok if he might miss some time. Rogers is hurt right now, and while he should still be there to learn, that might buy us some time too. Not a good siuation with the injury, but just a good way to look at it. Hopefully we get them signed soon though.

50 million. man, if he turns out to be a bust, lol. shit, that's better than t.o's deal. you know rosenhaus must be saying the same thing to the eagles right now.

Re: San Fran Signs Smith
Well, two things should hopefully speed things up. Rodgers injury and possibly Alex Smith's signing along with Farve's disapproval of teammate holdouts. :oink:

Manning and M Vick in guaranted money. Its crazy what these guys make without ever playing a down in the nfl.

Re: San Fran Signs Smith
Don't recall what Vick got as a signing bonus but Peyton Manning got $34.5M to sign his deal. So that's guaranteed money right there. Then he has another $12-15M or so guaranteed on top of that. Alex Smith got a really sweet deal but not as much guaranteed money as Manning.
HOW-EVAH - - if what I read about tom Brady's deal is accurate, Brady just signed a deal the guarantees him $24.5M. That'a only 500K more than Alex Smith and Brady has three Super Bowl rings. Talk about playing "at a discount to market value"... |
Re: San Fran Signs Smith
I just think that Smith will be a bust. Typically only 1 out of 5-6 first round pick QBs work out. Peyton was the last one (I don't think Big Ben is the real deal) that will work out in the future and it's not time for another one yet. ;)

Re: San Fran Signs Smith
Can anyone say that Smith was a legit 1st overall pick?
In other years he would have been lucky to be top 10. |
Re: San Fran Signs Smith
Yup. Hence the reason I think he'll be a huge bust.

Malcom:
If only 1 out of 5 or 6 first round QBs make it in the NFL, that must mean that you have serious doubts about one "Patrick Ramsey" who was a first round xpick at QB. So far, he has been a bust. And of course the hope for the future around here - Jason Campbell - by your yardstick has a 1 in 5 or 6 chance of working out. Not good news for Skins' fans... Since Manning was taken, McNabb and Culpepper were first round picks. They aren't busts. They don't have rings, but they aren't busts. Carson Palmer and David Carr aren't busts either. They aren't great; but they aren't busts either. Alex Smith will play on a terrible team behind a sub-standard offensive line. Anyone who thinks the 49ers will be a "break-even team" this year is smoking something that is illegal. But the jury is out on Alex Smith. I'll go out on a limb and say he will be better than Akili Smith - another first rounder as a QB! |
Re: San Fran Signs Smith
Is it just me, or does it look like Alex Smith may have stepped on a rake as a kid?
