AP: Williams' return to hands-on coaching has Redskins defense solid
 

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) -- Gregg Williams has tried to take a back seat to Joe Gibbs lately. It hasn't been easy.

Williams, the assistant coach in charge of the defense, was arguably the MVP of the [url="http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/was/"]Washington Redskins[/url] last year, assuming such an award can be given to someone other than a player, while the head coach was a shadow of his former Hall of Fame self. Williams' defense was the team's greatest asset, Gibbs' offense its biggest liability.
