Totally agree, gregoryvii - as Americans we look at the quote from the uncle and think that he is denouncing the brothers. However, look carefully at his words. First, the quote says "He deserved his." At first glance I took this to be a typo meaning instead "He deserved this." But, read it as written - to an Islamist supremacist, death by jihad involving the killing or maiming of infedels is rewarded with highest honors in the afterlife. "He deserved his," as well as "They do not deserve to live on this earth" could be taken to mean that he deserves that high honor. Of course, Americans misunderstand those statements because we look through a western lens, not the lens of Islamist supremacy - perfect example of Taqiyya, or intentional deception in order to further to cause of Islam.
I think the poster is reading faaaaar too much into it and misapplying the term taqiyya. The uncle also called his nephew "a loser". To me, the uncle would not have used the derogatory term if he was invoking taqiyya - which is a self protection and limited in application to hiding was beliefs if that person is under immediate, mortal harm (further, Chechens are generally Sunni which doesn't recognize taqiyya as a formal principle since it was developed by the minority Shia muslims in response to majority Sunni oppression).

I would imagine that any follow-up will fully explore potential collaborators with these two. If the uncle is involved, I doubt he will be able to hide it. Until there is some evidence of that, however, I will take his statement at face value and assume he is both angered by and ashamed of the actions taken by his nephews.
