Winners Added to Honor of Songun Korea

Winners at the 52nd international table tennis championships came back home Thursday. Kim Hyok Bong and Kim Jong won first prize in the mixed doubles.

At the first and the second stage games they easily defeated Greek and Russian players, and at the third stage games their rivals were French boy and girl whom they also got the better of, despite loud cheering of the fans of France, the venue of the championships.

At the fourth stage games our team matched with Japan and south Korea, and the games ended in our victory. In the semi-quarter finals our team's rival was China's Hong Kong team.

In the mixed doubles for 51st world cup our champions Kim Hyok Bong and Kim Jong met the same rival in the semi-quarter finals. Our boy and girl went in for the games with some knowledge and experience.

The Hong Kong team, however, kept hitting hard upon us from the first round. We lost the first three rounds. After the third round, our coach called for one-minute break and instructed our champions to be more brave and positive in the attack.

When they did as instructed, the Hong Kong players began drawing back, and our boy and girl kept delivering hard blows, winning all the rest rounds.

In the finals our team had the match with south Korean team. From the very beginning, our team hit hard upon the rival, giving the rival no breathing spell, and won the three rounds. But the rival team, winner of all games up to the finals, was not willing to give up on the half way.

As the game reached the 6th rounds, our coach asked for a break.

Soon the game resumed. There was an apparent change in tactics. Our players continued their hard attacks on the rivals, ending the game in the 6th round.

The world title in the mixed doubles went to our players, Kim Hyok Bong and Kim Jong, and our national flag was raised aloft, displaying the honor of socialist Korea all around the world.
