I keep going back to my own foot surgery. I had a torn ligament in the foot (tiny tear - still made the foot swell like a grapefruit). I recognize I am not a premier athelete (or any type of athelete outside of couch athletics) but I had the surgery done by the same guy who does this work for the Ravens and other atheletes. He made it clear there is nothing guarranteed and that the longer you wait the less guarrantees you have.

My foot is better but it is in no way the same as it was before. The injury is just not the kind that is easily correctable.
