Re: Around the NFL Offseason 2013

Under Cerrato, this organization did a really poor job of retaining its valuable players. We've done much better at that since Mike Shanahan took over. I think I've lobbed legitimate complaints that we let pro bowler x, y, and z walk, which could have been avoided, but we've also managed to retain key guys like London Fletcher, Will Montgomery, Kory Lichtensteiger, Darrel Young, Santana Moss, and Fred Davis.

Okay, maybe that's not that many. But the fewer holes you create, the easier it is to fill those holes with player acquisition. I liked that this past offseason, we were able to acquire new talent without having to replace the old talent. The trade off is that we're older, overall, but I think that's a fair deal in order to maintain continuity.

For example, we could have let Lichtensteiger walk, but determined that he was valuable to us in the context of the rest of the line. I liked the move to re-sign him.
