It's a ratings move. While we may be able to pile up 1,000 or more complaints, they will probably get 10 or 20 times that in letters of approval from NY fans. Give a special AND extra MNF airing in NY, the largest market in the U.S.

You get the sympathy viewer, you get the NY viewer and you get national coverage for all of the displaced families... that turns into straight $$$ for ABC.

I do agree though, they should move the regular broadcast to ESPN in NY and the gulf coast.
