Eagles HC Chip Kelly on contrast between tempo/speed of officials in NCAA & NFL: "Zero difference. None."

Another quote that I heard, but have no source to verify (maybe SS or others know the specific, and if my context is wrong please correct me), is [paraphrased]"we looked at on field performance in our evaluations, not the mental approach behind it".

A topic that will surely dominate this season will be Chip Kelly's transition to the NFL. Many are focusing on his offensive scheme, but my question is, and will remain, can he change from dealing with dependent young men to highly paid independent athletes. I think the transitions go far deeper than just the on field product. I will be really surprised, just from my personal opinions, if he lasts in the NFL, but will be intriguing to see how it goes.
I don't watch the college game so I don't know if what he says about the refs is true but I do know that, when asked about the biggest difference between the college game and the pros, the players site the speed of the game almost without fail. As to time of possesion, while true it isn't determinative, it's a pretty good indicator. In the pros, if you can't control the clock when you need to, you will lose more often than you win - much more often.

Kelly clearly is a more detail oriented guy than Spurrier ever was. At the same time, there seems to be a similar disrespect for the difference between the college game and what he will be facing Sept. 9th forward. I am not saying he is doomed, maybe he is in the right place at the right time with his emphasis on an up tempo offense. Based on some of the thngs I have read, I am just skeptical. Part of it, of course, I am hoping he will Spurrierize the Eagles.
