I don't agree with this. I'm glad RG3 didn't play in the preseason; the risk of injury wasn't worth it. And it's true that it wouldn't have helped with other players' miscues. But playing RG3 for a half or so in preseason would have helped him "shake the rust off". To be honest, he looked terrible in the first half. He wasn't making the right reads, and he was missing receivers; basically, it looked like he was playing "stiff". He just didn't look comfortable. And that's because this was his first game action since the playoffs.
Playing in the preseason wouldn't have prevented the team's bad play, but it certainly would have helped RG3's game in the first half. And if RG3 would have played well, it would have partially negated the bad play of the other players; instead of a 19 point deficit at half-time, it would have been more like a 10 point deficit. The quarterback is the most important player on the field, and if he would have played well the whole game, it would have gone a lot better for everyone.
This Eagles' game
was his preseason, and he will come out firing on all cylinders against Green Bay. Philly will be but a distant memory when we come out victorious.
