Sutter has wanted to do this angle for a while but never had it worked out to fit until now. It's his take on tackling head-on the propensity for TV shows to ignore the real affects of what these guys do as a whole versus just the affects on them and their families. Same situation as Breaking Bad. Very little exposition focuses on how WW's meth affects the community. Its all focused on his life and his environment.
I thought Sutter's mechnaism for delving into it was a little over the top but that's what SOA is about. All thse crazy situations of a life-style none of us can really relate to and how these somewhat everyday type of people have adapted or are adapting to it. Plus it sets up how the show ends I believe is what eh has said.
