Here's another list to consider as well. Funny, for the oldest team in the league, only KC and Seattle have more than one player on either list along with us.

Kerrigan's not old (just 25), but he's not accomplished enough to be a core player. At this point, he is what is is, which is a nice piece to have, capable of making a play, and more valuable to the team when he is cheap. He has just one more year as a cheap starter, so I don't think it's controversial to omit him from a discussion of core Redskins.
Orakpo is a more important player, but whether he gets re-signed or they sign someone in free agency or draft someone to replace him, it's all the same going forward. If the Redskins were hanging out around the top of the NFC East standings consistently, I'd be all in on bringing back Orakpo, but given the position of the team, those cap dollars gained by not signing him have some value too.
