Sorry, I think I forgot to add that in this scenario everything is the same the lone exception being the price for the Rams #2 pick for RG3 back in 2012 was 2 first rounders instead of 3.

Come to think of it though in spite of Shanahan being a dirty word around here these days we do owe him a lot. He was the one that at least approved the decision to go up and get RG3, though its certainly is possible that it was his idea to begin with.

If you're a cynic you could also argue that his ego which convinced him he could get away with starting John Beck and Rex Grossman allowed us to get within striking distance of RG3.

And if you're a conspiracy theorist then the secret Illuminati/masononic bond of Fischer and Shanahan allowed the Redskins to get the RG3 pick instead of the Browns.

I figured most people would just have guessed Greg Robinson [OT AU]. Come to think of it through Mack [OLB Buf] would have been an intriguing pick. Of course the question at that point is where do you play him. On one hand you could argue he's the perfect replacement for Fletcher but then you'd be wasting his talent as a pass rusher playing him inside. Of course in the end that could easily be considered a good problem to have not to mention the depth at Tackle is much better than pass rusher.

Clowney [DE SC] though I don't like because, unlike Mack, you can't really play musical chairs with Clowney. I guess he could play DE though he doesn't really strike me as the JJ Watt type thats happy to work inside and find his way to the QB from there.

Personally though I think my pick if we still had #2 would be Matthews [OT A&M]. Not because I like him more than Robinson but I feel like down the line Robinson would be slightly more likely to want to test free agency in hopes of earning a LT spot and in turn the money that comes with it. Similar to Branden Albert in Kansas City. At the very least I know Matthews was fine playing RT for 2 years while Joekel was on the left side.

Of course thats not to say that Matthews wouldn't also try to pull a Branden Albert in that situation but I'd feel a little more comfortable in our chances of keeping him long term.

You could also argue that since he grew up richer than....well mostly everyone, that he won't holdout for every last cent when his rookie contract is up. After all he went back for his senior year at A&M in spite of being a likely 1st round pick. Then again you could also argue that growing up he became, lets say accustomed, to the finer things in life and will squeeze his benefactors until the eagles on the back of their quarters scream.
