There is no upside in prolonging a public battle where you end up just looking like an ass. Even if they win and are able to keep the name, the damage to the brand is constantly happening every time the story recycles. At some point the smart move is to make the move, put a spin on it like it's your idea/coming to your own conclusion and make a positive out of it.

Agreed. Regardless of who is "right," we look really bad by continuing to fight. Might as well cut our losses.
