From Saturday's practice:

Not a good day for Forbath, who hit each upright when attempting field goals later in the day, from 34 and 40 yards. Meanwhile, rookie Zach Hocker hit from 35, 41 and 54 yards – all down the middle. Forbath’s 53-yarder was a low liner; Hocker’s was a deep drive.

Interesting battle, won't be able to tell until games.. So hard to consider moving on from a kicker who's already in the Hall of Fame (Forbath) for making 17 in a row and leading the league in
FG% in 2012, and making his last 13 FG last year..
But honestly, even the worst FG kickers usually still make 70% of FG, and average for kickers is about 85% (which is around Forbath's average for 2 years). Going from top 10 to just average FG kicking would be about 2-3 FG for the year, or missing 6-9 points total for the year. In contrast we gave up a kick return touchdown last year. Not to mention field position battle is huge for the game. I'd bet if Hocker stays halfway decent, he'd be better for us in the long run.
