banking execs read those headlines and immediately calculate how many weeks worth of profit that wipes out for the quarter, then on to wonder how much profit was made minus the fine.
the headline should be execs get sentenced to 5, 10, 20+ years in jail. then maybe the first thought that crosses the rest of the industry execs' minds is that they need to make sure their company is clean because they don't want to run the risk of actually being punished.
