It's the same thing with any other position, if you are thinking instead of naturally reacting you've probably already missed your window.

You might head out of the huddle with a plan in mind, but after the ball is snapped a QB goes through his reads, maybe decides to scramble, maybe decides to throw it away. This is all i mean. In that few seconds, he has to think fast.
