Part of the magic was that Gibbs would sucker-punch defenses with the deep pass, after drawing them in with the run and short pass, but he did that throughout the game-- not just in the final 4 minutes. The problem is, Brunell is still trying to find the timing with the receivers on the short-to-intermediate routes, and up until the last 4 minutes of the Monday night game, he was uninclined to throw deep unless the receiver was wide-open. Once Brunell and the receivers get in-sync on the short and medium routes, things will begin to open up, as they'll be able to sustain more drives and establish the conditions required to set-up a successful deep passing game.
