Cousins threw picks because of erratic accuracy and poor decisions, not because of timing.
BTW on play action and deep routes there still typically are quick release opportunities to safety valves. And you can still throw the ball away, much of the time anyway, even if no safety valve is available.
Think what you want. But my guess is that Gruden is constantly talking to RGIII about timing. This is not a new concept - Jerry Rice is a HoFer in part because of the YAC he got from a timing based offense.
