Honestly, the media coverage on the whole RGIII/Gruden thing is f_ing stupid. The tag line is that "We need a lead so RGIII won't have to drp back." What Gruden actually says is far less dramatic: Gruden: We need lead so RGIII won't have to drop back - NFL.com All he says is that "It's important for us to have success on first and second down so we don't have to drop back and throw it 30 times a game, have a lead so we don't have to worry about it," Gruden said. "Eventually, when you get behind, when you get in third down, you get behind the chains, those have to be accomplished -- the drop-back reads, progressions have to be accomplished, and that's something we're fighting through right now."

What's controversial about that? Obviously, our 3rd down coversions are terrible, and we've been in 3rd and long a lot. That's something any coach wants to avoid, much less one piloting a 3-11 team.
