Over his career, Phillips has delivered 7 defenses ranked in the top 5 in points allowed for 5 different teams. He didn't get a lot of help on some of those teams from the offense.
If anybody has a better track record on the defensive side of the ball we should hire them.
He has the exact opposite track record of Haslett. He has consistently been not only in the top half of the league, but in the top 10.
I like the idea of a young hire also, but Phillips is top notch.
