I've watched him over the past half of the season - and he has been absolutely dreadful. He has no arm strength left, he has been playing with a myriad of injuries, and last night, he just looked like an old man that had nothing left. There was all the jokes about Brett Favre, but IMO, Brett never sucked the way Peyton has for the last few weeks.
So i wonder ultimately if the Broncos are even kicking the tires on Peyton coming back one more year. Peyton is a competitor, and i have bet against him before and been wrong (returning from neck surgery) - so if Peyton wants to try and bring it one more year, I respect that. Maybe he is just hurt and banged up and an off season of rest and rehab will fix him. It's just shocking to have witnessed one of the greatest of all time suddenly reduced to below average.
As a younger football fan (30 years old), is this always the way it goes with once-great athletes? Do they just show up one day and it's gone, as seemed to be the case with Manning last night??
