Hard to beat the vindictiveness of springing the "penalty" on us on the eve of free agency. And changing the "rules" on how we could split it up after announcing it. And repeated ad nauseum, we broke no rule. The NFL owners just couldn't enforce their illegal collusion to keep the cap in an uncapped year, when the Players Union could have acted. They could only get revenge on us afterwards, after DeMaurice Smith signed away the union's right to take action.
