Lots of reports saying he and D. Thomas want Calvin Johnson type money, but I don't see it happening. In fact, Calvin Johnson shouldn't have gotten that contract he got. You don't pay WRs that kind of money, no matter how good they are. |
I don't think these guys should get Calvin Johnson type money, but at the same time their respective teams are going to do anything and everything to get them for the cheapest amount of money.
In a normal situation, you'd have some agreement in the middle; however, the franchise tag, gives teams a huge advantage in their negotiation. I know people's initial reaction is to side with the team. But it sucks to be them, because the franchise tag doesn't help them with their negotiation.
At the end of the day, they'll either need to take the franchise tag (paid on a weekly basis and not guaranteed), take a very team friendly deal, or hold out.
