The average fan who never played the game does not realize how much more physically demanding it is to play defense than offense. As my college football
coach used to say "Fatigue makes cowards of us all". Using the ground game to control the clock is going to beat down a defense and make even pro bowlers
play like scrubs. While the same time your defense stays well rested and fresh.
The rules are geared toward the passing game these days but it appears the Redskins can beat people old school by running the ball down the opponents throats.
