I firmly believe in the you play to win the game adage. The Patriots, Giants, Seahawks (along with many others) all play their starters in the final games of the season when they are in the playoff hunt.
In the highly unlikely event that Cousins or McCoy are injured in week 17 I'm sure Scott has a good handle on practice squad QB they'll sign to the roster to be the back-up. It doesn't make sense to make it this far then suddenly decide to roll the dice on 16 mil.
