“We’ve got to figure out something different scheme-wise to create more pressures,” Baker said. “That’s what’s happening in the games, but we did a good job defensively. They didn’t have any big plays. We’ve just got to keep them out of the end zone on sudden-change opportunities.”
“As a defensive lineman, when you blitz a lot, that means you have to move up out of your gap, and hopefully someone else comes free,” Baker said. “I’d rather just play man-on-man, let us get our man in front of us and play ball. We don’t have to blitz to get pressure.”

Joe Barry just doesnt blitz. Not his style. Does it seem like it is becoming a trend to not blitz so much? Our last 3 opponents didnt blitz and played soft and I thought that was product of playing us vs the steelers/boys/giants overall approach. But now ... im starting to think it is a trend league wide to not blitz as much. The league wide numbers at the end of the season should tell the story.

Bakers points seem contradictory. He says they need to create new schemes but then he also turns around and says lets just play ball. That is what they are doing and its not working. We aren't getting enough pressure "playing ball". I'm not saying do the Haslett Cover 0 blitZ everyone every 3rd down but we do need to mix in some blitzes throughout the games. I also like the idea of mixing in more man coverage schemes with our zones that we run most of the time.
