I guess the way I read the tea leaves over the last three years is this:
year 1: SM is awesome, great draft headed in the right direction (alcohol free)
year 2: WTF was that draft about...GDI the free agents didnt work either...(not alcohol free)
year 3: Not going to let that shit happen again. Go get yourself together.
At the end of this year (possibly next year) Gruden could very well come out of this as a really solid foundation for a long time. If he can get DS to back off on RGIII and the front office to contain a drunk GM, while at the same time winning games, not too shabby. By this fall promote another GM from within and keep moving forward.
Thems is some Burgundy glasses I am sure, but I cant keep from thinking this is what is happening.
I am not a Snyder hater and tend to dismiss alot of the all things bad in DC are directly due to DS. First five years yes. Since then has been getting better over time.

I agree with your assessment of Snyder, tho I admit this off-season speculation around KC's contract had me worried. If SM has been struggling then that may actually (when wearing BaG glasses) explain some of the lack of movement we have seen. It's still not a great thing, ideally SM kept his act together, and the Skins ship steadied around him as GM and Gruden as HC. Like you said, maybe a steadier GM comes up from the ranks and we keep moving forward. Here's hoping!
